WFSB is inexplicably showing local content and pushed the ARK @ LSU game to sister station WCTX. D* doesn't have WCTX in HD so I am forced to watch this game in SD. Unbelievable. D* guide shows the game on both stations.

If anyone at CBS doing the Arkansas-LSU game is reading, please send someone into the stands to gag the crazy screaming chick, or at least mute the mic that's picking her up. Sounds like she's about a 6 pack past staggering drunk.

I don't, but I question your judgement if she sounded like that before you married her.

CU-Utah game on FSN Southwest is one of the better Fox games I've seen. A little bit of mosquito noise, but otherwise a nice sharp picture with good colors and no artifacts of excessive enhancement. Biggest downside is the usual FSN 2.0-flagged-as-5.1 audio.

BC-Miami game on ABC isn't so hot, with some noticeable ringing due to excessive enhancement, and the picture just looks kind of "off", maybe a contrast problem? Plus, the Bottomline is shifted a few pixels up so there is a thin line of video visible below it, and it covers up a little bit of the scorebox. ESPN still hasn't quite figured out how to get it consistent from channel to channel and game to game.

Well ESPN doesn't usually integrate games on ABC. That's handled by ABC, largely for union reasons, in New York. Its basically a completely different operation from ESPN and has traditionally not been nearly as robust. So once it leaves the truck its basically in ABC's hands (even transmission I believe has to be handled by ABC). I did notice the edge enhancement though.

Michigan Ohio State doesn't look terrible. Not the snappiest picture but very nice color and contrast.

I saw Ohio St./Michigan on 2 different televsions but on the same pay tv provider (DirecTV) and same channel (ABC 10-KGTV). At my friend's place he has a 55" Sharp Aquos with a viewing distance about 6 feet and it wasn't all that impressive, however at my parents house, the game looks great on my parents 40" Sony Bravia. Honestly I think people get HDTVs that are way too big. People should really consider viewing distance from where they watch the majority of the time. I will say at my friend's place with the Sharp Aquos, from the kitchen table, the game looked great.

And the FOUL!

PSU @ Wisc feed looks really choppy here on ESPN-HD. Frame rate doesn't look right at all.

Looks fine here on TWC. It's ESPN's usually soft picture quality although probably not helped by the weather today.

So... you're saying that instead of asking for decent quality feeds, the answer is to just watch tiny TV's from long distance so we can't see how sh*tty the picture really is? What about those people who like to occasionally watch something that actually has good PQ like a Blu-ray for instance, where they can fully enjoy the resolution and immersion of a larger screen from up closer? I hope you were just being sarcastic because it's pretty sad to let the providers off the hook and slide down to the depths of apathy that easily.

I watched the Oregon/Oregon State game yesterday and it was just pathetic. Upconverted DVDs have more detail than what that game provided. And in what has become the typical ABC fashion there was the massive color shift into the red (not wanting to mess up my regular color/white balance settings, I made a temp tint adjustment all the way to a 60/40 balance and dropped the saturation down to the mid 40's just to make it watchable), and on top of all that was a hellacious display of edge enhancement. It amazes me that a major network will air an embarrassment like that...

Well, what's your definition of tiny? 40" isn't a tiny tv.

You're right Tom. 40" is not tiny. It's just small . But that doesn't change my point, that it's not the size of the TV that's the problem. 1920x1080 is plenty of pixels for relatively close viewing of bigger screens. With a good quality source they look just fine. The issues arise when the source is lousy.

ABC has become the embarrassment that NBC was a couple of years ago. I don't remember it being so bad in years past. I have to wonder if it has something to do with the ESPN on ABC thing.

Not if RG III comes back from his concussion and has a good game this weekend. Luck had a couple of games where he looked lousy.

I can't really tell a difference between the two over the past two weeks (I'm in Milwaukee). CBS58 is consistently WORSE than those two, which pains me to no end. I used to have it good in Salt Lake City with KUTV (One sub-channel vs four). No more
