Okay, why is SyFy changing Lost Girl's schedule? Next week it changes to Thursdays.

Why do they keep doing this? Can't they keep shows on one night thru the whole season? It's just stupid!!!!

I'm just waiting for it to hit Amazon or Netflix and then I'll binge all 6 eps. Keep screwing the viewers TV stations... the internet will take care of us and cut you out.

Maybe SyFy will repeat the episodes sooner rather than later.

I do have the last 4 episodes on my DVR.

Showcase extended the final season to 16 episodes but only showed the first 8 last year. The final 8 are supposed to appear this year, which means Siffy will probably show them in 2016.

Obviously, the ratings on Friday night must have been pretty bad for them to make these moves, in advance of the June premiere of a reconstituted Sci-Fridays block. They also moved Lost Girl's companion Bitten out of it's Friday prime time slot, to late night, 11pm EST. Replaced with movies until the return of Defiance, and the debuts of Killjoys and Dark Matters next month.

Dazed and confused over high tech.

Sigh...Concrap. The Internet Overlord Cometh

I think we have AMC to thank for this terrible trend. They started making what they called only "one season" of Breaking Bad but refused to show the whole thing at once and instead held the second half of the season until the next year. My guess is because it's cheaper to call the episodes a single season and then to show only half of them at once than it is to actually call them two seasons. It probably saves them from having to negotiate new contracts and such, plus it allows them to make each "season" half as long as normal, and people don't complain that the "seasons" are too short when they can brand the whole thing as one "season". It's stupid, but people didn't complain, and now other networks are jumping on the bandwagon.

It's even worse than splitting the film adaptation of the final book in a series into two movies. At least that way you get the extra content of having expanded stories in each film, but this split season nonsense just means we have to wait an extra year to see episodes we should have already been able to watch.

We really have BBC to thank for super short seasons. They have been doing single digit "series" (that's Brit for "season") for years. Dr Who, is usually 12 - 13 episodes but that's an anomaly. Check out Foyle's War... 3 eps per season... sure they were 90 minutes but even taking that into account it's a short season. But The Beeb can be forgiven as they don't have a monetary interest. Other channels are doing it to squeeze more out of each season and if it ruins the experience for the viewer, they could care less. I can't even figure out when to watch Lost Girl anymore.

That's totally different. The UK has always preferred to release miniseries, because many of their shows are written by a single person who has a vision for a cohesive story that doesn't take tons of episodes to tell. This is a stark contrast to the "written by committee" approach that US television makers use to churn out episode after episode until the ratings decline to the point where the show gets cancelled and the dreck machine comes to a crashing hault.

The problem isn't short seasons. The problem is taking a season of regular length and then treating it as if it were multiple seasons by only releasing half of the season's episodes at once and then releasing the second half when the subsequent season should have been released.

According to TV Guide on-line schedule, episode 8 will air Thursday, May 28, and episode 7 will air Thursday, June 4. Sheesh!!

Just checked SYFY.COM, it says the same thing. Airing episodes out-of-order.

But that isn't very unusual. Many times a network will broadcast a show out of episode order for one reason or another.

I have become so disappointed with this show.
It seems its only reason to exist now is as a vehicle for soft porn.
It's sad they can't find real writers or showrunners.

It really went downhill in season 3, and parts of season 4 just downright made no sense. After they replaced Hale with Tamsin, it all went down the tubes. I'm waiting for the second half of season 5 before I start watching the first half, though.

Hale was a big loss.
His budding romance with Kenzi was great.

Also, I have never thought of Tamsin as the major character she is now.

What is especially frustrating to me is the World of Lost Girl is an interesting one.
It's rich with weirdness.
Unfortunately, rather than explore and exploit it the showrunners are more concerned with faux sex scenes (and, no, I'm not a prude).
It's just lazy and a cop-out.

Apologies. I haven't watched regularly in a while. What happened to Kenzie? She definitely added a lot of personality and quirkiness to the show. It was a kind of jump the shark moment when she started to gain powers. I think I stopped tuning in somewhere mid season 2.

Or maybe she was before. I don't watch it. I only read that she has a role on teh show as a regular cast member.

She still might be back on S5 of Lost Girl though? Right?

I stuck it out until the middle of the very confusing season 4. The exact moment I stopped watching was when an episode opened with some silly sexy car wash scene. At that point, I couldn't tell if the show was making fun of that particular trope or parodying itself.

I remember that abysmal scene.

It's just ridiculous.
The sad thing is there actually is a good show underneath all of this nonsense just waiting to be set free.
All it would take is a little effort.
Apparently, effort of any kind is too much for the showrunners.

For whoever is interested you can stream the entire show at the following site. (well, except the episodes that haven't aired anywhere yet- the 2nd half of season 5. I streamed the first half of this season earlier this year, after watching season 4 on netflix.) I'm kind of surprised to hear they're only just now airing them.

http://www.cucirca.eu/watch-lost-girl-online/

I think they jumped the shark when Kenzi left the show. Kenzi was the heart of the show, and now the heart is gone. No one else can really perform that function, because Kenzi was human, and everyone else is supernatural. Plus, her being human and always having to use her brains instead of relying on magic was a good tool for story development, and now that's gone. (Kind of like the opposite of Data trying to be human on ST:TNG.) I felt the show started going off the rails when they put Bo on the train and left Kenzi alone to fend for herself. It damaged the relationship, and it never really got back on track. Plus, it made everything so convoluted and non cohesive. (my take anyway.)

If Kenzi isn't in season 5, I'm going to have a real chore ahead of me when it comes time to watch it. At least season 2 was good.
