WCBS-DT NYC OTA & FiOS NYC.

Getting the standard bad PQ on WCBS DT.
Any movement of the field cameras and the truf is full of artifacts which makes the video appear grainy.

WWJ via Shaw Cable in western Canada. Looks and sounds like I'm in there in person, compared to the horrendous PQ and AQ I get on FOX. It's seriously like switching from SD to HD.

Absolute beautiful rendering. Yes, I do see some swimming grass but other than that. WOW.
D* WCBS

Perhaps I misremembered.

TWC in Troy, NY

The surrounds are firing! Woo Hoo! 1080i and no notable PQ compression issues :-)

Ken H, would you have any idea if WCBS provides a direct pre mpeg2 encoder feed to any cable or satellite providers?
I ask because it only seems like a few of the regular posters here have issues with the PQ on WCBS-DT.
Wondering if other others are getting a higher quality feed?
Even others with FiOS seem to have no issues with the quality but the motions artifacts are there.

WCCO in Minneapolis OTA. The picture quality and audio quality are fantastic. So far superior to the previous game on FOX it is not even comparable. Let's hope the game turns out to be just as good.

Anyone else find the CBS promo with the zoom in on photo of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne a little odd and creepy?

When did all the networks broadcasting NFL games decide that only heavy metal sounding rock music is used during replays?
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yeah, I don't like it either. I think it has to do with the promo being a static shot rather than an actual video clip.

The commercial of the kids reciting the bible was kinda disturbing. Otherwise this is a game only a Patriots fan can love. I'm guessing the ratings for the 2nd half are going to be bad.

Pretty sure the answer is no, but I will ask.

Viewing WWJ-DT CBS Detroit, via Comcast (no 5.1 at my viewing location). Looks great, typical graphics artifacts in & out of transitions and in the background of fast moving close ups.

42-7 in the third. Wonder if Tebow uttered a few choice HBO words under his breath.

Did WCBS fire up their .2 channel again yet? Wonder if they're on their fancy new encoder or the older NetVX.

I'm seeing some blocking on the field when the camera pans, the kind of artifacts that are invisible once you get more than about 1.5*diagonal away from the screen since they mostly match the color of the surrounding area. At about 7 feet from my 40" 1080p set, the game looks perfect. At 3 feet, not so perfect, but probably as good as can be done given the high level of detail in the source and the encoder in use. My impression is that NBC filters the source material a bit more than CBS does to decrease artifacts down the line, so NBC has less artifacting and a smoother look, while CBS has more fine detail and a bit of artifacting. Overall, about what I've come to expect from the better CBS games. No apparent issues on the wipes or other scene changes. Watching on KTVT Dallas (O&O, no subs).

WCBS 2.2 was broadcasting a test pattern and tone on Friday.
Checked during the game and 2.2 was off and the PQ was not improved.
