Sad ending, after some happy reunion.. I just don't understand why Martin and Lucy had to separate, they should have been together running from that Astrocor (sp) evil guys.. or just maybe making sure all were safe and even out out of the country first..

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

Maria Bello didn't want to be a regular on the show, so they wrote her off.

You could tell that it was an abrupt change... because they didn't show it. If it was an always-planned ending, I would think she would have gotten a last line in and they would have shown it on-camera. It has a look of something that was shot after the rest of the episode, once it was decided her character would not continue.

Her departure was known well before the script for that episode was written or filmed. The writers just decided not to make a big deal of it.

I don't doubt you... but the way it was shot, and not showing her to us... it just felt tacked-on... that just makes it weirder if it was all planned in advance as her way out of the show.

Not a huge deal, but it just felt strange that suddenly her character went poof... then was killed off-screen.

I haven't watched the last 3 episodes, and since the show has been cancelled, does the last episode have any sort of resolution or was it a cliffhanger?

Thanks for the update. We have the entire season on the PVR, so perhaps I'll keep them in case we run out of shows during the summer doldrums.

Well, farewell, no more "Jake!:" screams but hopefully more "Damn it"'s in the future.

didn't read that but yes the last episode is a wrap on a lot of the main conspiracy & issues. it definitely was setup to continue but I guess it won't be. you won't be disappointed with the ending, if you haven't watched yet.

I guess this also explains the decision for more 24. Between more Touch & resurrecting 24, 24 will no doubt have more viewers wink.gif

I'll warn you that if you were a fan of last season, chances are you won't be of this season. It's a very different animal. FOX made them change the format of the show. It became a cheap looking rip off of ABC's 'Missing', with a rip-off of 'Heroes' character 'Sylar' thrown in just for fun. Plus, they stopped bringing in the really good and imaginative directors from the first season. No more Greg Beeman, Stephen Williams, or Jeannot Szwarc. FOX wanted guys whose priority was shooting fast and dirty and cheap.

People looking for a 24 fix liked the change. But the fact that the ratings dropped like a rock this season demonstrated that 'Touch''s core audience hated the change. It lost the magic and the family friendly vibe of the first season. It became an action/thriller without the action or thrills of much better shows like Burn Notice, Arrow, and and even female-centric Covert Affairs.

definitely a different show this season, and yes very 24 like, action oriented rather than connecting-the-numbers wink.gif weekly character dramas. I can't say which one is "better", they're just totally different in tone.

and it's obvious that the reason for the change was to try to improve ratings.

If that was the plan, it failed miserably and had the opposite effect. But saving money had as much to do with it as improving ratings. Faking all those foreign locations first season cost a lot of money and extra shooting time. Playing Los Angeles as Los Angeles costs a lot less. And the directors they picked this year...there had to be some savings there, too.

To be completely fair... I liked this show, but I don't know how many more seasons they could have gone with the plot anyway. I think maybe a 3rd season would have been about as far as they could reasonably play this all out before repeating old ideas... so I'd rather it go out now than drag on... I do admit too that I liked the first season more than the second.

I agree with you here. 2nd season didn't have the emotional pull of the 1st season which is where 'Touch' really stood apart. Wonder what creator Tim Kring though of the (mis)direction of the 2nd season?

Well the only thing I wanted to know is putting that number sequence to use, too bad they couldn't, and with Amelia's "powers" gone she wasn't going to be interesting now. Perhaps if Jake started talking and not only on dreams and 2 whole words in 2 seasons..

Given how "Heroes" did a nosedive in its second season it's not something he hasn't seen before.

And in both cases, it was the studio telling him to go in a different direction than he had originally intended.

I can definitely believe that, studio interference has ruined many a good show.

I thought it was a toss up... Both seasons has issues... just different ones.

I thought it was better (more unusual) in it's first season incarnation with the "Crash" elements of tying together seemingly unrelated situations and people and then showcasing them at end of episode in a big bow. Made it different.smile.gif
