I was very disappointed with the sound broadcast of this great musical program. I have directv and have my box going thru my onkyo 609 which was
telling me that the broadcast was coming in at dolby 2.0? Hopefully the dvd will have DTS.Tony is amazing at 85 still sounding great. Heres hoping he makes it to 90 for duets 3.

Well I guess that answers the question that I have posed before, ie, do any markets transmit PBS with 5.1 audio.

Guess I need to shoot off another e-mail to Tampa PBS.

The program itself was outstanding, but our local Salt Lake City HD broadcast had constant dropouts in the sound about every 10-15 seconds. Frustrating as he!!

I watched this program again and even though my AVR says 5.1 Dolby, its NOT No center or surround sound, only L&R.
I do regularly get 5.1 from my local OTA PBS channel, but not this program.

Yes, many markets transmit shows with 5.1 audio. Unfortunately, if you think audio's a crap shoot with your commercial stations, it can be even more challenging with some PBS ststions. I've heard of some producers that will only deliver stereo because of bad experiences with 5.1. Considering PBS has been deliveing 5.1 since around 2000, such confusion by the local stations is inexcusable.
