NFL FILMS' ROAD TO THE SUPER BOWL DEBUTS ON NBC AT 12:00 NOON ET ON SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

42nd Year of TV's Longest-Running, Most-Honored Annual Sports Special
One-Hour Special Culled From 1.7 Million Feet of Game Film &
400 Hours of Game Audio from 133 Coaches & Players

How did the New York Giants and New England Patriots advance to Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis? Re-live the journey as only NFL Films can present it on Road to the Super Bowl on Super Bowl Sunday, February 5 at 12:00 Noon ET on NBC.

Road to the Super Bowl begins with Kickoff Weekend and chronicles the 2011 NFL season utilizing NFL Films' signature captivating video and sound from on the field and in the locker room from exclusive player and coach wirings.

For those who love football, this show is red meat, said NFL Films president Steve Sabol. No interviews, no talking heads, all action.

Road to the Super Bowl is the longest-running (42 years) and most honored (28 Sports Emmys) annual sports special. Road to the Super Bowl, which debuted following the 1969 season, was culled by NFL Films producers from more than 1.7 million feet of game footage to 980 feet for the one-hour special. In addition, more than 400 hours of audio were captured from 133 exclusive coach and player on-field wirings. Original orchestral music, including a 60-person choir, was used in producing the show.

Another great NFL Films production of "The Road to the Super Bowl" now on to the pregame show.

If this pregame is any indication of what is to come, we are in for a real treat.
Looks outstanding.

Perhaps I misremembered.

1080i for once! We always get 720p and artifacting for the SNF broadcasts. Simply outstanding PQ now.

I agree. PQ is top rate. NBC has made such major strides and really seems concerned about quality. On the SOTU many reported them to have the best quality. The other 1080i major network, CBS, seems to be falling behind and less concerned about quality, which was evident again on the SOTU with audio problems.

Overall the video is clean. Noticing there is a small solid peacock on the bottom right.

My only complaint is the video screen on the desks at field level and higer in the stands are very low resolution and look bad on TV. Why would they not go with high quality screens?

During the end of the Pizza Hut commercial the audio got very loud and stayed that way when they returned to the pregame.

WNBC Via D* is virtually artifact free. Though soft compared to WDIV OTA. WDIV is sharper, but has a lot of motion artifacts and MPEG 2 "noise".

Walking the fine line between jaw-dropping and a plain ol' yawn.

I makes me wonder if WNBC has the overall sharpness of their video encoder turned down a bit.
They just ran a local ad for Toyota with Eli Manning that has the video grain of film but video grain was so soft compared to when the had has aired on other NYC stations.

I've noticed that, too. I don't recall when it was, but I've heard some strangely loud commercials when I haven't heard many in months (it seems.) I haven't fired up the DVR, but I'd like to catch one "on tape."

Also WNBC, but via Comcast.

On the Dan Patrick interview of Eli Manning the video grain looks very soft and more like video noise.
