Based on her roller-coaster ride during Speedweeks, Sunday's Daytona 500 ought to be a stellar outing for Danica Patrick.

On Thursday, she wrecked hard on the last lap of the first Gatorade Duel 150 qualifying race at Daytona International Speedway.

On Friday, she won the pole for the Drive4COPD 300 Nationwide Series race.

On Saturday, on Lap 49 of that event, Patrick wrecked in Turn 3 after a hard bump from JR Motorsports teammate Cole Whitt. Patrick fought to regain control of her car but nosed into the outside wall.

"What the (expletive)?" Patrick exclaimed as she drove her crippled No. 7 Chevrolet to pit road. "What the hell is he thinking?"

"Yeah, he (expletive) wrecked the (expletive) out of you," said spotter Mark Robertson.

Patrick's crew rolled the car to the garage to make extensive repairs that included replacing the radiator, the right-front suspension, the nose and the hood.

Doubtless, there will be a conversation between the JR Motorsports teammates before they're on the track together next Saturday at Phoenix.

"I don't think it's ever great when teammates come together," Patrick said after the race. "So we'll have to figure out what happened and move forward."

Patrick's biggest regret was wasting her pole-winning car.

"My car was really, really fast," she said. "Even when guys were tandem racing right in front of me, I was able to hang right with 'em. The bummer of it is that, not only is it the start to the championship -- and now I'm in the championship and every race matters and every point matters, which is why we got out there again -- but there are so many other days when your car isn't perfect or isn't great or isn't super fast and nothing happens to you.

"And you think 'Why on the days when I have a really fast car does it have to happen today?' But it did, and we'll move on."

Specifically, Patrick will move on to the Daytona 500, where she'll start from the rear of the field in her backup car. The way her week has been going, though, Sunday promises to be a better day.

Heavy rain has delayed the start of the 54th annual Daytona 500, and could push the race into the night.

"We are prepared to turn on the lights if we have to," said Joie Chitwood, president of Daytona International Speedway.

"Once we go through our standard pre-race schedule, we will make a call if weather is still an issue, which looks likely."

The race was officially supposed to start at 1:29 pm., but since it takes two hours to dry the track and rain was still falling hard at start time, it is unlikely the race will start before 3:30 p.m.

"It's one of those days here in Daytona where it pops up and falls off and pops up and falls off," NASCAR president Mike Helton said. "But as the day progresses, we think the chances of the popups diminsh quite a bit. Hopefully this will be the last big cell we see and things will start falling apart and we can get the track dry and go on and run the Daytona 500 today."

Once the race starts, Carl Edwards will be on the pole. Edwards' teammate, Greg Biffle, will start on the outside of the front row.

2011 champion Tony Stewart qualified third, Matt Kenseth fourth and Dale Earnhardt Jr., fifth.

Jimmie Johnson, who won five consecutive championships until Stewat broke the streak, is starting eighth. Danica Patrick, in her first Daytona 500, is starting 29th.

Weather has never pushed the race to Monday, although it was shortened because of rain four times: in 1965, when Fred Lorenzen won; in 1966, when Richard Petty took the checkered flag; in 2003, when Michael Waltrip won; and in 2009, when Kenseth won.

What NASCAR is saying now: 8:30pm drop dead start time.

4:50pm radar: http://yfrog.com/esihczoj

Jayski 5pm update: Rain is over for now, jet dryers are on track, at least 30 minutes from a dry track BUT looking at the radar, there is a large cell headed towrads the track, looks to hit in 45-60 minutes.

For the first time in Daytona 500 history, the race has been postponed. New plan is race start tomorrow at noon and FOX will still carry the entire broadcast live.

Yes, it certainly looks that way now, and it will be a very hectic week since they have to be in Phoenix for Nationwide on Saturday & Sprint Cup on Sunday.

Of course D* can't update the guide until after I leave for work. Then when they finally update it, it's for the morning(PST) reschedule which has already been move to this evening.

Luckily, my DVR's are networked and I only live 3 miles from work. Just have to deal with the snow.

Anyone know if there'll still be HotPass?

Well consider me happy they moved the race to tonight so I can actually see it. My local affiliate (WJW in Cleveland) has been in breaking news mode all morning due to a school shooting/murder. My hope is that coverage will go back to normal by racetime.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Daytona 500 is going prime time -- weather permitting.

One day after being postponed by weather for the first time in its long history, NASCAR's biggest race was moved under the lights by more persistent rain that continued in the area Monday morning. The hope had been for the Daytona 500 to go green at 12:13 p.m. ET, but it soon became clear that the elements would not cooperate. Shortly after 10 a.m., series and track officials announced the event had been rescheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

Absolutely. I'm glad I don't have to play a guessing game with my DVR... What time will it REALLY start, is Verizon FiOS in D/FW going to carry it, will the program guide be accurate, how much cushion do I have to add for extended cautions... etc. I assume "House" and "Alcatraz" will be rescheduled. I DVR those two shows as well (gee, I wonder what my dumbass DVR's gonna do tonite ).

HotPass has updated to the latest announced time, 4:00 pm PST for me,(no really), but Fox still has it wrong. I'm probably going to have to make up an excuse to leave work 15 min. early to get home in time for the green. They won't dilly dally around with pre-race stuff. That is, unless they update the online guide in time to schedule the DVR remotely.

Update:I snuck out and ran home and D* updated so my DVR is set.

Pretty good video quality so far. They finally turned off the annoying background music. I really don't want to hear the sideline reporters giving a report with elevator music in the background. So weird.

Interesting, at my place, Time Warner had the digital cable guide originally updated from listing the race from 9am PST-2:30pm PST, however the digital cable guide wasn't reupdated for the rescheduled start of 4pm PST. Meanwhile at my parents house, the DirecTV guide was properly updated for the 4pm PST start time.

Watching on Fox 5/69-KSWB at my parents house on DirecTV.

And the FOUL!

Yeah, hopefully the driver was ok, he looked shook up. Those guys don't have the safety features for that type of collision. And part of the track may be ruined after this massive fire.

FOX did not have any cameras following just before the wreck?
They have shown one fixed POV cam that just misses it and another camera that they had to zoom in.

Bizarre incident. And yes, I'd say the track is damaged in that area, and the race is over.
