That will probably be the case, but I think the show needs one truly selfless and smart politician's perspective of wading through the horse crap in DC. Such a person may seem like a virtual needle in a haystack in modern times, but they do exist and showing the juxtaposition could be made quite comical.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Laurie brings to the show. It's been a while since I saw him playing comedy.
Laurie's comedian aspects were so subtle last night. They weren't as dirty as the rest of staff. I liked how he was a "people's person"that knew everybody and talked to them on a personal level. Put the Selina to shame

I see Amy is working with that company now. Same as Dan. I loved the screaming skit in the parking garage.

"It's like words are your second language, Sir."

One of the most brilliant things about this season is teaming Jonah and Richard.

Just finished season 1 and moving onto season 2. This might be one of the most hilarious shows I've ever seen.

Agreed. Richard has become an indispensable character.

I loved when all of the political hacks went into immediate alert after Tom James expressed his personal stance on drug laws. The lobbying scenes were fantastic as well.

I'm in awe by the quality of this show's writing.

Agreed on all fronts. Always been a great show, and just getting better with age. Every episode is terrific.

Another Richard gem from a previous episode:

When he inadvertantly blasted "Eye of the Tiger" before an appearance, he said:
"I blame Windows 8."

That was hilarious. Two other great lines that I don't remember verbatim:

"We should have hired Navy SEALs instead of those two actual seals."

"The White House sent two huge children in their fathers' suits."

There were a lot of good ones this episode! VP Tom James' description of the team members was also classic.

Happy to see it wasn't just me that thought this episode was packed with great lines. The writers must have had a great lunch before sitting down to write this one!

"Minecraft" car and "Welcome to the circle jerk. Grab a dick." were two more I remember.

Gary being "the most powerful man in the world" was funny too.

Every moment was perfect. I had a feeling from the beginning that Bill Ericsson would ultimately be the one thrown under the bus, but the journey there was genius.

You know that most of these people are truly detestable when Jonah looks like a saint in comparison.

The number of jokes per episode could probably fuel a full season of a lessor show. If Sheldon Cooper was a guest on this show it he would Bazinga himself hoarse.

"I took 'Noticing' in high school."

Jonah was really underserved when he was blogging and the new incompetent aide that got introduced never really clicked. But put them together and they are comedy gold. That was an excellent writing decision. You could see Chlumsky and Scott trying to hold it together when they were making their statements.

Ben is rapdily becoming my favorite character though. Almost everything he says is spin par excellence. He gets to the point using the most sarcastic way possible.

The characters aren't quite as funny alone as they are together. So, it wasn't quite as funny as other episodes, but there were some hilarious moments.

I loved Mike's rambling questioning. Was his description of his "medicine" based upon a real medicine?

Also, Richard Splett had a few funny gems too.
"I said raise your RIGHT hand."
"Oh. I was practicing in the mirror."

I agree, this is definitely a show that defines "ensemble". It works at 110% when all the personalities are in the same room trying to outdo each other.

I've been watching "The Thick of It" lately. Naturally, I love the series and think Malcolm Tucker is one of the best characters ever. I still prefer Veep overall, which might be my fault as I generally find comedy to land with much more impact in American connotation than that of British. It's an excellent and very smart series, nonetheless.

I remember one of the scant amount of early media criticisms of Veep being that it isn't cynical enough. That has changed in later seasons, of course, as we've witnessed the inner operations of the Presidential circle where actions have highest consequence.

I loved it when Amy came to the hearings dressed in a milk-maid outfit, braids in her hair, just great. Couldn't appear more innocent, and she played it perfectly.

Good stuff last night

Loved Jonah's moto bit. I liked the tension between Dan and the other panelist.

Salina's rant when she found out that her VP can potentially be elected President if there was a tie
