Suspension of disbelief only goes so far, the logic kicks in. When our guys arrived at the location of the big fight scene, numerous bad guys unloaded on them with automatic weapons. There was more lead unleashed than found in a pencil factory (I know that don't use lead anymore. Then the bad guys mostly dropped their "useless" weapons and resorted to fists and martial arts combat. I can buy into a hero that can fly or is bullet proof, but these fight scenes are idiotic.

I also expect Lance is a dead man now, as Darhk must have left the note exposed on his desk on purpose to see if Lance would feed the location to Oliver.

Is it just me or are the fight scenes looking bad? I mean badly choreographed? I used to be a fan of the fights in the first two seasons, but right now it's very stilted. I mean Arrow doesn't even look like he's hitting half of the bad guys, plus the fights are very slow.

I feel like most of the fight scenes have too many people in them. I wish they would spend more time showcasing what an individual character is capable of. I guess that's what happens when there are so many people in team Arrow now.

After the previous episode which was a relationshipperwreck I was just happy to get back to kicking people in the face instead of everyone longingly staring into their eyes and talking about dating.

But yeah, some weird stuff going on with the fight camerawork this week. The container fight sequence in theory would have been pretty good as a 360 battle but it felt like they forgot the steadicam and had to grab the nearest GoPro and swing it around. The mass battles are usually well done on this show (like the ship fighting or Ollie in his corridor battle) but I also think the character numbers are becoming way too high to manage them now. At least the stunt doubles for Laurel and Thea seem to have taken over. The show doesn't even attempt to clumsily insert an unconvincing action close-up of the actresses into their fight scenes now.

I can't decide which was more ridiculous, the bulletproof sofa on the previous week's Arrow, or bullets being deflected by a silver serving tray on SHIELD last week. Bullets which then go through any body armor worn by a bad guy.

Really though I hate Laurel more and more every week. The Canary Scream is just massively dumb, Laurel cannot fight and Katie Cassidy is unconvincing as Canary just walking around in costume. Come on Cisco, invent a sonic weapon that just works without having to watch Laurel look like an idiot. And then ask her to move in with you so we don't have to see her on Arrow.

Does anyone remember Tommy? That was back when a sacrifice on the show meant something. Now with Diggle's brother back from the dead the show is really undermining any sacrifice now. Even if the show makes light of "when is dead really dead in this town?" it's not only anticlimactic constantly bringing back supposedly dead characters but it's adding even more to the cast bloat. The show needs to start really killing some of them because even with Ray and Sara off to Legends there are still far too many heroes and villains to adequately service every week.

On the upside, the island stuff - while still pretty ridiculous how Ollie is just being accepted - has at least got slightly more interesting now the leader is some kind of magic dude and not just another militia heavy.

Still looking forward to the crossover though. The character numbers will be off the charts but at least it should be fun and I'm interested to see the setup for Legends and how Vandal Savage is portrayed.

+1

It's definitely also another sign that the writers are struggling. Can't come up with new stuff, other than reviving people. Three people back from the dead this season and we aren't even half way through. Who's next? Oliver's mother? Toss in the magic to this season, and it's starting to feel too much like Supernatural.

They need to fire some writers.

Be careful when bringing up dead characters! As soon as Malcom fixes the Lazarus Pit, Tommy's next!

Oliver is smart enough to let dead people stay dead. Laurel, however, isn't. "I want my sister back, even if she's a zombie! It's her, really! It's your fault for having such sweet-smelling brains!"

And then Tommy could be Arrow's Kenny and die in every episode

We've already had Constantine on the show, if they bring Constantine's sidekick Chas then that could actually happen. His curse was 47 souls and was killed and reborn every few episodes! I'm sure he could transfer the power.

In the case of Sara, I think it's the best decision Laurel has ever made. Everyone benefits. Even partially undead Sara is more convincing as a fighter and looks better in a Canary suit.

I hate Laurel the character........do not much care for the actress....especially when she has to do crying scenes...ugg.

Yep, those were the days. More attractive and not annoying or useless. Ironically she was better than replacement Ruby on Supernatural.

Maybe Laurel could fall in a vat of nuclear waste or something, gain super powers, and turn evil like Ruby

Somehow radioactive elements seems to create superheroes rather than awful illnesses in the comics.

I watch both shows and had no idea the actress playing the first Ruby was KC. Wow she looked much better before. Now for some reason she sees taller to me,weird.

BTW, apparently Jared like the second Ruby much more....

Was there a new episode this week? Same goes for Flash or Agents of Shield. Do you have a week off out there in the USA?

EDIT: Nevermind. Stupid holidays!

I really enjoyed the two-part crossover. They did a really good job of incorporating the 'time step' first introduced on the Flash last season.

The biggest challenge was jamming that many characters into an episode and giving them all something interesting to do. It is a little worrying since the upcoming Legends of Tomorrow has an equally large cast. Hopefully, they will figure out some way to focus each episode on just two or three characters.

Ugh, I only watched because of the crossover.

The Felicity interrogation was especially painful. I felt like I was watching Iris from last year.
