She looked terrible 20+ years ago. I am sure time has not improved on that. But OTOH she has to pay the bills, and cameos generate revenue for actors......

Hey I don't look a day over 50 and 4 months! wink.gif

Hollywood is a hard task master. You are judged on your looks. There are not too many roles for grizzled, mature women and it's good to see Hamilton getting work. I liked her in the Terminator series and she was perfect for the role. From the young, innocent Sarah Connor of the first movie, to the haunted, experienced mom of T2, she was great. I even saw her the other day when we showed our youngest "Children of the Corn" because we keep the calling the kids that and she wanted to see the movie.

Yeah, her "medical" exam of Datek's nether regions was just too funny. It was nice to have Defiance back. Had to love Jamie Murray when she let sonny boy know who wore the pants (or whatever) in the family's business. Damn, that woman is hot!

As I watched the [LA gang boss] scene, I wondered why did Irissa whack all the soldiers, but not the boss? I guess the game tie-in might like to have a boss around (and maybe there is something more in the game to the story behind the mo-hawk chicken girl Irissa later killed).

Edit: Removed the other bit. Didn't mean to kill the thread...

Yeah that alien thingy passed mouth to mouth is creepy and keeping them alive, I guess it can repair fatal injuries just like that, a bullet thru the neck up to the eye looked nasty..

... and how many times has Sukar died, and come back?
He was killed by the razor rain, then brought back by nannites, then left for dead with brain damage and a severed spinal cord... only to see him alive and well, chopping firewood in the last episodes. Now what's happened to him after that life force entered his body through his mouth?
Is he dead is he alive, is he possessed?
One thing for sure... He must have one heck of an agent!!

I was getting confused as well so I did a search for a Defiance wiki and there were several, I picked one near the top of the results and I now have a much better grasp as to what's going on. I didn't see anything that I felt was spoilerish as I tried to find one focused on the show only.

That said, I now know why those people came back to life, returned from the dead, healed miraculously, what ever you want to call it, and why Irisa is so important, it was very enlightening.

Even Nolan came back to life after Irisa jumped into that cave or cavern.

If you remember which wiki you used, would you mind posting the link?
I read a few of them but didn't get as much clarity as you found.

Thanks....

It was this one here,

http://en.defiance-wiki.com/wiki/Defiance_Wiki

but I think it also has some game stuff so use caution. I didn't come across anything that would spoil the show for me, but you never know.

To be honest, I don't know how detailed it is as I really only looked for why those people "died" and came back to life, and a few other things like the different races and their back stories.

Wow... an episode where Sukar didn't die ... I guess that will be next week then.
Nolan hooking up with Amanda (multiple times).. props to my boy!!

Favorite line from this episode- Amanda to Irissa who barged in on Amanda/Nolan having sex: "anyone ever teach you to knock?".... Irissa nodding towards Nolan "I was raised by him!"...

Another good episode, looks like Defiance has found it's groove.

I'm glad Datak got some good lessons from his wife, that'll teach him, although I bet he's gonna be even more furious after that beating.

Love Amanda but I hate that she needs to get high like every day, even with the Mayor joining her, does Nolan knows she's doing drugs?

better than S1, I agree. Edgier.

Datak's son isn't the cocky kid he was, the NA mine owner just one of the slave-gang now so he got knocked off his pedestal & not as cliched a character. The female mayor running the brothel and turning druggie, so she's also no longer squeeky clean.

the wife taking over the "family business" also was a nice touch of revenge - breaking free of her subservient role & letting Datak rot in prison. and revenge is a dish served cold each one getting revenge on the other - a nice touch.

Irina, not as "annoying". Nolan acting a bit less like the Marlboro man.

overall, a better SF show.

Steve

Yup, Datak got his rear kicked real good. I love Jaime Murray as Stahma. Her facial expressions, especially her eyes, are amazing. They show so clearly what she is thinking at any given moment. Overall, season 2 has gotten off to very good start.

Agreed!
But I'm still having issues with the 2 episode season one finale' arc of what exactly happened (Nolan being brought back from the dead, Sukar awaking from his coma and magically showing up at the mine entrance, etc..) and how Irisa ended up in Hollywood of all places after last seeing her dive head first 100's feet down into a mine/alien energy field?
How is Nolan not in jail/executed as an enemy combatant after aiding in Irisa's escape and killing Black Jonah and other ER soldiers?

Not that I'm complaining, but this show leaves out a lot of in-between details..

I feel better now- I just went on the IMDB Discussion Forum for Defiance (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2189221/board/?p=1) and there's lots of WTH, WT.., I don't understand.., What was that?, What is that thing inside her?, what does it do to her victims?, etc.. conversations. Guess I'm not the only one who's confused at this point...

I'm enjoying this season much more than season one.
Much darker overall tone, several interesting sub-plots running concurrently. Nolan knows something's up with Irisa, he's bound to find out soon because she just can't hide it all.... like the incident with the blood on her arm (from a gunshot wound that instantly healed) or showing up in the woods with Birdie, etc... Datak is always interesting, how far is he willing to go the get the E Rep out of town, and how long will his family put up with him?
