This is a very good show. Interesting characters, well written dialog, beautiful often nekkid women, wonderful colors and attention to period detail. Not getting enough credit here, in my opinion.

I cancelled it. Not sure how modeling a B movie got the green, but this show is kind of sad. And the MM rips are just a little too obvious.

Eve: I thought I was through getting involved with men who were trouble. Falling in love on a look. I can't look at you.

Mickey: You have perfection about you. Your eyes have music. Your heart's the best part of your body. And when you move, every man, woman and child is forced to watch.

Agreed. Maybe this is a generational thing. I was born in 1959, and I find that time period very fascinating. The cars, the style, the slowly losing of innocence. Throw in beautiful women, and the mob...I'm all in.

Love Jeffery Dean Morgan - but this show just doesn't hold any Magic for me.

Tried watching that HBO hit show Angry Males but couldn't get into it. Enjoy this period drama, especially the hot, needy, insatiable women.

I watched all the episodes. Not bad, not great. I'll watch the 2nd season. Love the cars, too. The number of viewers went up as the season progressed. Nothing spectacular, but from 300K to a peak of 500k and then dropped a little to 470K.

A bit of a lackluster season finale. Waiting 2 weeks did not help it. Not much of a cliff hanger.

I enjoyed the series also. It hasn't been the best one ever to hit the air, but I do consider it very watchable and look forward to the 2nd season. The thing I hate about these short series is just as you get involved in them, they're over.

As a teenager in the late 50's and early 60's, I love the neat cars and the overall look of the show. Those were the days when all of the cars didn't look alike. As soon as I saw the portholes on the fender on the one car pulling up to the hotel entrance, I immediately knew it was a Buick.

I liked the show, and await the second season sometime in 2013. As others have said, it is not a great show unless you compare it to the KILLING (couldn't resist).

It's a tad soapy combined with a edge, but I liked it. Also, have to say, that predictable it wasn't. You could see where relationships were going and you knew that those pics were going to find there way to Ben, but the twists were surprising. Not sure why Judy Silver (or red now) is still alive and what that play is. Guess we'll find out next season.

I don't lurk as much as I used to and I NEVER listen. Comes from being old and cynical.

I expected him to maybe disfigure her or some such. Certainly not watch! eek.gif Did he also do a Deliverance on her? wink.gif I can't figure out what happened with the dirty cop & Judi either. Obviously, she gets to live for some reason. Next season....

Not Boardwalk Empire quality, but certainly enjoyable as a mob related drama. I'm in for season 2.
One thing, Nucky killed people but he still had heart and style. The Butcher is just plain bad.

Good little series overall to me. IF you have Starz, it's worth a look...I enjoyed it.

Finally got a chance to sit down and watch this series since I was home sick this weekend. I was thoroughly entertained. Thought the plot twists/maneuvers were pretty awesome. Morgan's conflicted portrayal of Ike Davis was fantastic. Doing what he has to do to keep his dream going. Huston's portrayal of The Butcher was chilling. That dude is twisted. Seeing this show AFTER BE ended it's season makes me think that him and Gyp Rosetti should face off in a "who's more twisted" kind of way.

And--was the actress who was falling in love with Ike's younger daughter Andy Garcia's daughter? And the hotel GM--who lost his wife in Cuba--was that the actor from the Seinfeld "He won't wear the ribbon" episode?

Great period piece IMHO. I don't watch Mad Men and I wasn't around for the 50's (or 60's) but this show has an accurate realism to it that *seems* fantastic to my naive eyes....

I also enjoyed Magic City.

I believe when Mad Men started D* didn't offer AMC in HD so I didn't want to watch the show unless it was in HD.

I haven't gotten around to buying the Blu Rays yet either.

Guess I'll have to wait till I'm sick again and have a marathon!!

I have to agree, I don't and haven't for a very long time watch anything that is not HD. That said, Mad Men was available to me in HD from day one...

Your choice, but to me that is un-frickin-believable. I love my HDTVs, but my first choice is to watch the content, not the cheesecake.

Lol. I've never seen Honey Boo Boo nor do I care to because it's (she is an "IT" right?) in HD.

But I will say I am snobbish when it comes to shows I will/won't watch because of that "HD" thing.

Seems strange to me for someone to refuse to watch something because the picture quality isn't perfect. Given a choice of these two - Real Housewives of Atlanta in HD or Homeland in SD - which would you watch?

Does a great book have to magnificently bound in order for you to read it, or will a paperback suffice?

It's just an odd approach - that no matter how brilliant the writing, how magnificent the acting, how life-changing the message in a TV show, someone wouldn't watch it unless the images are pretty.

To each his own, I guess.
