Interesting. The BBC had previously said it would stream lots of venue/event feeds live and uninterrupted on the web, but now on satellite (Sky and Freesat confirmed) and cable (not confirmed yet?) they have announced 24 additional TV channels (with full EPG and PVR recording capabilities as a result)

The last bit of the article linked above seems to suggest that they may be in HD on some platforms.

We had 3 or 4 continuous live streams in SD from Beijing, in addition to the coverage on the regular channels, but this sounds like an amazing development.

*** EDIT : Confirmed there will be 24 HD and 24 SD (simulcast) streams on satellite for both Sky and Freesat (non-subscription) satellite viewers ***
