Was too enthralled with the Tigers game that just ended to look in before now, but as always CBS does a great job with this event.

Looks like they changed their commercial policy. Used to limit it to a couple of minutes per hour from only 2 sponsors, but it seemed like more frequent breaks and a higher total ad load this year.

Congrats to Bulldog Bubba! He just overpowered the course, and they can't really lengthen it any further. Told my wife if he won, the river was going to start flowing and it wasn't going to stop for a week.

I still can't complain about the commercials they are still fewer and far between then a normal golf broadcast.

Four minutes of commercials per hour, all from three sponsors- IBM, AT&T and Exxon/Mobil. After watching for four days I got kind of tired of the bird noises, they were constant, they were too consistent to be real.

I think the bird noises have been "piped in" for years or at least they have been in the past.

Okay. Seemed like more, maybe because instead of clustering them at the hour or half-hour point as they've done in the past, they broke them up into more individual 30 second spots during the hour.

I think the bird noises were probably real. I've been there many times, and there are a lot of birds - it's a huge golf course; lots of natural areas bordering it as well.

Now, no. In the past, yes.

Many years ago, some broadcasters did 'sweeten' the background audio for golf by using recorded bird sounds. The Masters was one of them.

I guess the Pat Summerall intro era is over. Jim Nantz now does the voice over at the beginning. Too bad, I looked forward to hearing Pat's dulcet tones.

Yes, but they used it last year (I think!) and Jim Nantz always gives thanks to Pat for his opening. Maybe the new contact for this year allowed for the change over.
