No matter what suspension Torres gets, Shanahan has turned himself and the NHL into a complete joke. He'll probably get 10 games for what wasn't even the worst hit this week, much less this season, just because of that stretcher. Maybe this is the latest form of embellishment. As long as the NHL suspends to the injury, take every injured player off in an ambulance so the opposing team loses guys for serious time instead of the meaningless 1 and 2 game bans given out thus far.

FiOS TV NYC.
Comparing PHX @ CHI from NBCSN on CNBC and TSN on NHL Network the action cam is much brighter on TSN with the ice more white.
On CNBC the ice appears more of a light gray color.

For BOS @ WSH on NBCSN
Mike Emrick is up in the booth doing play by play and Pierre McGuire standing between the benches.
Figured with only two people they would both be in the booth.

Did Versus starting having the 3rd commentator between the standing the team benches or was it CBC or TSN?

I've been noticing that when they go to a commercial break during the Ottawa-Rangers game on NBCSN that there are no commercials.[makes for interesting viewing imho]......they just switched to Bob Costas's show during the intermission.

If a movie or concert video or a TV show isn't on blu ray it darn well should be.

It seems like I'm not getting any DD 5.1 on Game 6-PIT/PHI on NBC (KNSD). I'm getting volume on the left, center, and right speakers, but nothing on the rear surrounds.

And the FOUL!

I wish Dave Strader was NBC's primary announcer. He sounds like an announcer should, just a straight forward game call.

WNBC-DT NYC FiOS

The game is 5.1 here.
Announcers in the center. Arena sound in the L & R.
Sound in the Surrounds is mostly from the sound effects on the animated graphic transitions.
Crowd sound is lower in the surrounds.
Studio segments are stereo.

My only complaint and it goes for MSG Network to,
the score bar animating into a promo or commercial then back to the score bar is very annoying during game play.

BOS @ WSH

The announcers in the center some times are lower then arena sounds on the L & R.
Almost no audio from the surrounds.

It was nice seeing Daryl Reaugh behind the glass last night and Friday. First time I had seen him do that ever. I was correct in thinking that would improve his analysis 10x. It did. Love to see him do that in Dallas next year! @razor5hole rules!!!!!!

Have to think that the Knicks get demoted to MSG2 if it gets that far. That game has national coverage on TNT with no blackouts so it will be available to everyone even if their provider doesn't carry MSG2. The Devils will end up on NHL Network if it gets that far (CNBC has their Costco show that night, and with as much as they've promoted it there's no way it gets bumped for hockey), and NHL Network's availability sucks. With any luck, the Panthers will win tomorrow and it won't matter.

It's the same with NBCSN, CNBC and the MSGs.
All of them are broadcasting a mono mix.

It's a shame because we know NBC Sports is doing DD 5.1 as can be heard on NBC but NBCSN airs all programming with all audio in the center channel and that same audio lower in the L & R.

Don't know who thought of that but for whoever did.....BRILLIANT!

I think FOX did it first with Tony Siragusa. I don't care what sport it is, having an ex player, or ex coach on the field, ice, whatever makes for an even better color commentary.

A mono source would upmix (almost) entirely in C, like the early CNBC games. NBCSN definitely isn't mono, and though it isn't 5.1 all the way from end to end either. Sounds to me like the same 5.1 production on site/downmix to stereo for either the feed to the network or the run through the network equipment/upmix to 5.1 for broadcast employed by most ESPN broadcasts. There's some hinting of surround elements like with Dolby Surround, DTS Neural Surround, or Circle Surround that is making it through, because there is quite a bit in L/R, and even some in SL/SR (crank them up to +10 and it sounds a whole lot better). Still beats the hell out of an FSN broadcast - those clowns can't even set the encoder to the correct number of channels, and even with ProLogic processing of an analog output to create center and surrounds, it still sounds lifeless.

So is this the first time that NBC has used the CGI ads on the back glass, or are we seeing video from a 3rd party?

MSG Network uses them for NY Rangers games at the garden putting the ads on the glass above the goals.

That was VERY apparent tonight.
Emerik Screeched his way through the entire Rangers/Sens game with the dreaded Edzo & Pierre!

When they switched to the Panthers/Devils game, Dave Strader was indeed, a breath of fresh air.

NJ @ PHI.

Remote camera above the left goal is very edge enhanced.
Is that camera an NBC Sports camera or a camera placed there by CSN that NBC has access to?
I noticed the same thing on one of above the goal cams for the BOS @ WSH series.

Again the score bar animating into an ad has to stop.
It happens to frequently and they way it's done makes it very distracting.
