My cable provider added MTV2 HD a couple months ago, but there isn't a whole lot of HD programming on it.

Of course they'll be in HD eventually. Otherwise they'll just die out.

No one's running to the cable provider to get standard definition. Anyone used to viewing high definition channels just skips over these filler channels.

I can't see any opportunity for growth until they have HD feeds.

Most of those channels are just that, filler. They're mostly very inexpensive (a penny or 2 per sub) and run old, largely SD programming anyways. Meaning they're quite low priority to spend any money on.

The other problem is some sat/cable systems are at, or nearing "capacity". Meaning they've squeezed as many digital channels in as they're willing to.

Some of those channels might be better off, IMO to convert to a higher quality widescreen format. if that's possible.

I'll note that the Military Channel is definitely one I'd like to see in HD.

Chiller, Cloo, and the Viacom channels would be the most likely candidates by my estimation. There have been rumblings about Chiller and Cloo for a while, but nothing has ever materialized.

As for ESPN Classic, there has been periodic suggestions from ESPN that they're going to convert it into something new, which would almost surely result in an HD feed. Not sure what it would convert to, however. The most recent speculation was a joint ESPN-NFL network, but that never seemed very likely. An ESPN Soccer channel probably made the most sense, but after losing the rights to Fox, I doubt that would happen. Fact is, with increasingly stiff competition, there's probably not much demand for yet another ESPN network.

I am tired about Chiller and Cloo being teased.

These days I hardly go outside my HD section and would like both to make the transition especially Chiller.

I did want Current TV but my cable co might be dropping them and there is less incentive without Keith Olbermann. The only thing that intriques me is there documentaries.

Teen Nick is something for occasional viewing but their late night retro programming would not be in HD. I just want it so it's in the HD section.

Hopefully, we will see the holdouts launch in HD this year.
