The last paragraph seems to indicate that people with antennas, or people with no PAY video services (like an "internet-only" cable service), will not have access to streaming video of many Olympic events:

Well in order to watch them live on NBC is going to be difficult, they often do the deferred transmission of most events, and mostly the ones where the US team is hopeful of winning a medal (all other events seem to be ignored or passed or just a quick look).

At least in my case, living on the US/Mex border, Mexican TV will have 2 networks covering most of the live events...

Considering how much NBC paid for the Olympics is not that surprising they are going with a format similar to ESPN for live video.
The good thing is they will be showing all events live on the internet and not delaying them for primetime on NBC.
Some events are going to be free to everyone.

What is not mentioned in that article are the NBC Sports Network and Universal Sports Network.
NBCSN is running ads saying they will have Olympics coverage.
Is there going to be any live events on Universal Sports Network to try and get cable systems to add Universal Sports Network for the Olympics?

NBC Sports Network will provide coverage just as NBC will/does. Universal Sports Network will not air anything as far as I know.

Coverage will be on NBC, Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, NBC Sports Network and Telemundo.

There will be coverage in 3D on a next day delay that is being offered to cable, satellite and telco TV providers.

I hope NBC loses the Olympics someday just so they'll stop putting the damn Olympics symbol on ever show!

The pay-TV streaming arrangement is the same as it was for the Vancouver Olympics 2 years ago.

That sucks, still you have to pay to watch them.. I guess NBC wants money no matter what, they only have sports to make a profit though, scripted Primetime TV rating is looking bad the last few years

Why wouldn't NBC use Universal Sports? I seem to remember they had used them before, for sure they've used them for figure skating coverage(worlds, etc.).

because it doesnt really have much carriage right now.
They turned off their OTA subchannel.

with NBC Sports Network they really dont need it anymore.

Thanks I didn't realize that, we never had Universal Sports in my market. In one way I was sad but from a HD prospective I was happy to not rob bits from our OTA NBC channel, which is quite good.
