Wondered the same thing, can't really seem him and Vic ever working together again.

And I do hope they don't do a Walt/Vic romantic thing, please no.

So many rumors and so much speculation that Katee Sackhoff is up for a big move to features as a Marvel Super Hero, that it may be Vic that gets terminated.

The wife and I are enjoying this season as much as any. It's been great and we're sorry to see it come to and end. Here's hoping for another season...

Yep, we're way over this whole storyline now, hope they wrap it up. The Henry line is dragging out too.

This season has been a mild disappointment.

So the question which Branch did the season finale take? Given that the younger's gun was loaded and the older's was not, I assume pop had a shooting accident.

Interesting that Pops was behind the murder of Walt's wife. I wonder why.

Has Longmire been renewed yet? Surely they can't leave it like this!

Don't think there's any doubt that Branch won that duel given that Pops was just a bit player (and McRaney's probably ready to move on anyway). Agree that it's a head-scratcher why he would've been behind the killing in the first place, but this show induces a lot of that.

At least they finally cleared Henry and can move on with a completely new start next season, if it gets renewed. All they have left is the deal with Nighthorse and he's like the perennial foil for the show anyway.

I think he stated his reasoning, that he wanted to take Longmire out of the sheriff's office. I agree its a pretty thin line of reasoning, but its the reason given.

Then he's just flat-out evil, regardless of how he chose to say it was for 'the good of this family', whatever that meant. Branch figured that out.

Why not be sure and kill Walt instead of his wife?

I kind of thought that the show was implying that the clay pigeon distracted Branch enough that daddy killed him. Of course, this is like the showdown from a couple of weeks ago where the viewers have to guess till the next episode.

Just watched this episode and ran the skeet scene in slow-motion. Dad seemed to put his hand in his right pocket and when he sat down there was a shell in the upper chamber of Dad's shot gun. They got the details right for there to be some suspense.

Pops was a bit character, Branch was not. Can't see how Pops lived unless the actor playing Branch wanted out.

Exactly. That's what they want you to think, however, it is very unlikely. IIRC, Branch had the shotgun loaded and ready and already aimed in his dad's basic vicinity. A quick flick of the wrist and a trigger pull before an old man can completely turn around, aim and pull the trigger is more realistic. Branch knows his father well enough to suspect something when he cornered him and told his dad he knew what happened.

I don't think he does, he just wanted Branch to be Sheriff, so Walt needed to be out of the picture. Unless I missed something. IF he does hate Walt for some reason, then the whole kill his wife instead of him and make him suffer story line makes more sense. If not, and he just wanted Branch to be Sheriff like Branch wanted, it goes back to my earlier post....why not just kill Walt and make sure that Branch gets what he wants. Why take a chance on getting charged for murder and not even achieve your goal? I know it was necessary for the story line, but it makes no sense what so ever. Besides, how would killing Walt's wife take him out of the Sheriff position? Did he think Walt would be so consumed by grief that he would quit? Of course not, he would stay on and use those resources to figure out who killed his wife.

That's what I'm thinking, Bailey Chase may have wanted to move on, plus his character not only burned but basically nuked forever the bridges to the rest of his co-workers and even friends.

In any case, I do hope the show comes back.

The old man, did say he was 65 and too old for something, but he wasn't too old to make another son. I figure Walt has gotten in his way earlier in life and daddy seems like the type that would hold a grudge forever. I'm sure he blames Walt for some tragic event in his life.

Yes, that comment about making another son also makes me think Branch is a goner, victim of a "shooting accident". What ever Daddy's issue with Walt is I'm betting it has something to do with a woman somehow, maybe Walt's wife was with Daddy previously and Daddy wants revenge for losing her to him?

He said he was too old to make another fortune but not too old to make another son.

As pointed out, dad reached into his pocket and got a shell into the gun without Branch seeing that. When the target was released, Branched turned to look, meaning his shotgun was no longer aimed at dad. Plus, I heard the dad's shotgun close.

IMHO, Branch is a dead man.

But, there was no way that Longmire would have heard the shotgun. Way to far away.

Also, what was it that Henry took from the remembrance wall?

I think the jar contained requests for Hector's help. I'm thinking Henry is going to take over Hector's enforcer role.

I read where they renewed the series late last year, so non-renewal now isn't to alarming.

I like that there is uncertainty about who died, but I kind of hate a cliffhanger in these shows that have a nine month break.

As for who died, I can see it going either way. Maybe the writers wanted to kill off a major character and have a ready storyline for next year.

On why daddy wanted to kill Walt's wife, who knows. It could be just plain greed though. Get Walt out of the way, so he could have his son in there and do whatever he wanted.
