Can't wait!

I'll have to re-watch S4 again too.

Great shows stand up to multiple viewings... and my ol grey cells seem to appreciate the refresh as well

I don't have Netflix so I'm still waiting for my library to get the S4 DVD. They do have the whole series of ebooks - any thoughts on those?

All sorts of rumors circulating about what will occur in season 5 and whether there will be a season 6 - most of which I choose to dismiss.

At any rate the countdown is on.

Quote:
Months ago, Netflix announced Longmire Season 5 will premiere on the streaming service on Friday, September 23, 2016. While many Longmire fans have had that date marked on their calendar for days, as we move closer to the release of the fifth season of the series, many fans are wondering when exactly they can start their Longmire binge-watching session.

Fortunately, we have that answer! Fans of Longmire can start watching Longmire Season 5 at precisely 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on Sept. 23!

Obviously, that’s probably pretty good news for those on the West Coast or in Alaska and Hawaii because they can start watching the series at a rather reasonable hour. On the East Coast, I can’t imagine many people staying up until 3 a.m. to watch Longmire Season 5 on Netflix! That’s just how it goes with Netflix sometimes.

Watched the first 2 episodes last night...it took that many to resolve the cliff hanger ending from last season.

Good to see the cast back in business.

The show is indeed still a lot of fun. Over the past couple of days I have watched and enjoyed the first seven episodes of the new season. Going to hate to see it end. When do Bosch and Better Call Saul come back.

I'm only about 15 or 20 minutes into episode 1, but one problem is that every so often, often enough to be annoying, the double line closed captions have the bottom one cut off with just a tiny bit of the top of the 2nd line showing.

Totally caught me off guard, I thought there were 13 episodes and I finished the 10th episode and wham it was over. Definitely looks like the writers planned on another season.

I really enjoyed the whole season though, I planned on watching a couple of eps here and there and the next thing I knew I was done. LOL

You mean the series ends with little resolved?

I wouldn't say that, things got resolved, but new developments have transpired in the mean time. We definitely have an issue that is boiling to a head, this season was really good and hope they see fit to let it run some more. It's a good show, normally not my kind of show, but something about this one has my attention.

Things get resolved and new pieces appear that need to be put together. This could keep going for many years with the way new story lines appear or are revealed. It is definitely building tension between certain people and groups. I say the the good guys win in the end.

season 5 writing was weak. story lines were predictable, contrived, and pointless. the acting was not very good as well. at this point, i don't think i have any interest to come back for another season.

Season 5 writing was strong I thought. Story lines were exciting, unpredictable and right on point. I though the acting was very good as well. So, at this point, I strongly hoping for another season.

I'm inclined to agree, the writing is the weakest part.

There were some line readings in the series premiere that I thought didn't work. That was true with those read by the Danish actress and by one of the spear-carrier actors, who had one line before his character was killed off. I can't decide whose fault that was, though, the writers or the actors. Otherwise, I thought the performances were convincing and the writing good.

I applaud Netflix for giving us an additional three seasons of Longmire. Knowing the show is over with the upcoming season 6 allows the writer(s) to give the show a satisfying conclusion. Take that you A&E scum.

And even more importantly, that he doesn't end up with Vic. Ugh.

Am glad that it will have a true finale, it's been much better since it left A&E.

It means nothing of course, but in the Craig Thomas "Longmire" books, Walt is grooming Vic for the job of Sheriff when he retires.

Very little of the TV series plotlines seem derived from the novels any more. The part I miss most is the Native American mysticism that Walt experiences in the books. They give Tony Hillerman a run for the money IMHO. This adds another dimension to what is otherwise a police procedural in a semi-exotic setting.
