I'm surprised this thread hasn't started yet. So I will start ...(no spoiler space necessary)

Loved it! The bad is back and so is JR along with JR jr. You have good guys who's plans aren't that good (earthquake?) and bad guys who's plans may not be that bad.

I know what I'm doing this Wednesday at 9. biggrin.gif

Discuss. cool.gif

I kind of thought the whole thing turned into a confusing mess at the end. Double and triple cross this early on? How are they going to follow up on that?

I thought the casting of the younger set was terrible. The actor playing John Ross is terribly miscast. JR and Sue Ellen would never have had a pipsqueak like that as offspring. The female contingent was Ok, but none are stunning beauties, and all have a similar look. The guy playing Christopher I can take or leave, he's earnest in a Bobby sort of way, but that's all I can say for him. None really have any acting chops. If TNT is wise they will split the focus evenly between the younger and older set. JR, Bobby and Sue Ellen are all much more interesting, and I'd like to see more of them.

I'll tune in, but I bet the ratings drop off quickly.

This came just in time to save summer rerun Wednesday nights! I thought this was really done well. Really liked the old and new mix. I'm good with the casting, and really thought the cameos of the Ray & Lucy really helped make it. Biggest disappointment was the wedding and no one ending up in the pool! I thought this was almost mandatory for a Ewing wedding? A lot plotting going on already, and it seems it was easy to get to know the characters quickly, all though I'm sure there's still a lot to learn. This show has the same feeling as the original, keeps you wondering why am I still watching this, but why can't I turn it off? smile.gif

I loved it. There were more twists and turns than the road course in the middle of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. For a guy who was supposedly near death in real life, Larry Hagman made ole J.R. the villian we love to hate all over again.

I was never really a fan of the original even though I would occasionally catch an episode in the early years. From what I saw this week, many of the same plot devices used in Dallas are used in other serialized type shows now. This will have to be character driven by the new characters since Bobby, Sue Ellen and JR can't carry the whole series. If the new characters can't, this is doomed, and quickly. First few episodes are always introducing plot lines and characters. This is no different. I will give it a few more episodes before I pass judgement.

All opinions expressed (unless otherwise noted) are the posters and NOT the posters employers. The poster in NO WAY is/will speak for his employers.

But now the question is, now that JR's met the real Marta, who's this "Marta" playing JR and Bobby?

Someone hired by John Ross, who is apparently shrewder than JR thought.

I'm going to take a stab (pun intended) at what's about to happen. I'll mark it as spoiler stuff if you don't want to see it.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
There's now confusion on which is the real Marta Del Sol. I think the one JR met when he went to see Carlos is the the true phony. The genuine article is in Texas playing all the guys (Bobby, Christopher, John Ross and even JR) against each other. She's sowing dissension and confusion between family members in order for the sale of Southfork to the Conservacy to happen.

The contract will look legitimate and will be vetted, but will have a clause buried deep within it allowing, after time has passed once the sale goes final - say 12 to 18 months, for 'exploratory' drilling on the property. And they (the new ownership) pretty much know where John Ross was drilling, so they know where to start. And with the Ewings kicked off the property, there will be little anyone can do.

And who's the man behind the curtain, pulling all the strings? Carlos Del Sol himself. Some humanitarian he turns out to be.

What do you want? It's Dallas. Everyone backstabs everyone else. Maybe except Bobby, but if he's dying of cancer, that 'high and mighty' attitude may go away too.

I have enjoyed the first two episodes so far and Larry Hagman has still got it. I will say I think the writers are going overboard with the backstabbing and plot twists in just 2 shows. Life is not THAT complicated.

I loved JR's comment last night when Ann Ewing thought a burglar was in the barn and pointed her rifle at him before she realized who he was (paraphrasing), "Put that thing away darlin', bullets never liked me much." That was obviously a reference to the "Who Shot JR" episodes waaaay back in the eighties.

Anyone follow the dialogue in that Pam is listed as 'missing'? Does that mean there could be a surprise return of Victoria Principal?

In her last season on the original, Pam Ewing got into an auto collision with an oil tanker and was severely burned in the fire. She survived, but came back for one episode the last season with another actress as Pam, who had extensive plastic surgery during her recovery. It was revealed then that she had a terminal illness with something like a year left. As far as I know, that was the last we saw of her.

Actually, the Pam being burned and having alot of plastic surgery line could be applied to V Principal quite easily. Her and Priscilla Presley are both about unrecognizable nowadays anyway. That could at least explain why!

They were both a huge part of 'Dallas' and both still breathing, just like Hagman. Why not bring them back? I remember Victoria Principal as being "the hottest woman in the world" at the time. Granted I haven't seen her lately, but usually with that big a head start you're still in the race a few years later. wink.gif

Sadly, both Kercheval and Hagman look like walking corpses. This reboot of the series should have been done 10 years ago, or not at all.

Wow...I was young back in the day, 9'ish years old but remember all the hype and definitely "Who shot JR" phenomenon. But even back then at that age I remember Victoria Principal and remember thinking she was the only one that could come close to Jacklyn Smith. The mere mention of VP possibly returning peaks my interest to start watching. As you said.....with that big of a head start.....

So, John Ross is going to jail for leaving the scene of a crime. So I guess everyone who was there stayed till the cops came eh? rolleyes.gif

I just hope they view the hotel camera footage (and the footage Marta had from her camera) to clear JR jr's name. They'd do it on NCIS, NCIS-LA, H-50 etc! biggrin.gif

And the story continues....wink.gif
