Well, it's the Most Wonderful Time Of The year AGAIN. Anybody call into DirecTv to see about a lower rate? Yes, I know they seem to have lowered the rate. Makes me wonder if they are now firm on their Posted Rate.

Yeah, the most wonderful time of the year where I try to get the Red Zone Channel for free and end up having to go through 6-10 clueless people before one will finally cave and let me have it again. tongue.gif

They gave it free to me last year when I threatened to leave Directv (I actually was planning to leave. They lowered my bill to 50 a month for all I wanted and gave me ST for free). I called a couple weeks ago to cancel the auto-renew and they offered it to me for 60 so I took it.

I've been looking for PS3 Sunday Ticket pricing with no luck. Sure hope they bring that back again this year!

Oh, it will definitely be part of the PS3 this year. No doubt.

What is in doubt is whether or not NON DIRECTV SUBSCRIBERS, like myself, who have no intention on siging up for DirecTV, will be getting the NFL Sunday Ticket at $349, or $199 like DirecTV customers(the ones who don't threaten them with cancelling).

This is the big unknown. Personally I think it will be $349 for Non DiecTV customers who just want the service. But we shall wait and see.

Well if they want to encourage people to look for other ways to watch NFL games they'll keep it $349. Ways that bring in ZERO revenue to the NFL and DirecTv.

It's $99 for the first 2 months then $199 for the rest of the season:

People on slickdeals.net are reporting they called up Directv and mentioned this and managed to get NFL ST for $79. That's not including NFL ST Max.

Hopefully they learned from last season that it's not a good deal. Especially in the face of Directv getting it for 199.

But you have to actually get DirecTv service which cost money.

Of course, this is how they would make up the difference between those that have DirecTV, and those who don't, who want NFL ST. I still say wait and see. We should know more about it by August 15th or so. By then, they will be in full swing on advertising for the upcoming year, and PS3 people should know by then how much it will cost for the whole year.

The other leagues, MLB/NHL/NBA, are LIGHTYEARS ahead of the NFL when it comes to online streaming capabilities of it's regular season games. Granted, they are not as popular as the NFL, but the NFL has fallen way behind in the regard for a new revenue stream.

I got MLB.TV for a special "Fathers Day" price of $50 for the rest of the year. Even the cost of $100/year at the start of the season is a GREAT COST for all the games(except those considered local to your area). I have TWC Standard averaging 8.30-9.50 Dowload speed, and "RARELY" have any stuttering stopping of a feed through my PS3/Roku/LG ST600. My Samsung TV's interfaces are a little left to be desired because they constantly have a reminder popping up on screen telling you they are adjusting the picture for optimal perfomance due to stream strength. Really annoying. Just do it, and don' t tell me.

Sorry to get off topic. Back to the NFL Rant . smile.gif

Not really that off topic. You're right that the NFL is the most popular, but they're also the worst when it comes to providing ALL NFL fans with access to Sunday Ticket. And their insistence that NFL Network gets a game every week starting this coming season shows how clueless they really are. They're still not on several major cable carriers, so basically they're screwing huge numbers of NFL fans that want to see every game. And as you mentioned, their streaming tech is atrocious, as evidenced by the absolutely horrid video and sound provided to Sunday Ticket PS3 users last season.

And they're making money, more money than any other league. They must be doing something right. If they made it more available the networks wouldn't pay the exorbitant price that they do just so that every affiliate could have local as well as national commercials. Last year all of their games were available to anyone who wanted to pay for them either through Directv or PS3. A Redzone channel was made available to the cable companies and Dish network, all of which have declined to bid on the Sunday Ticket package. Do they charge too much? I know it's too much for a lot of people maybe that's why they lowered the price this year.

13 prime time games is a helluva lot of games to screw your fanbase out of. You can look it as 25 percent of the time people wont miss a game, but the reality is that 75 percent of the time they will.
