Sad. Another great gone.

My first recollection of Andy was when a neighbor kid had a comedy record, a 45, called "What It Was Was Football", Apparently it was a minor hit. Then I saw "No Time For Sergeants". I was hooked.

Thanks for the memories.

A true classic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNxLxTZHKM8 I think Andy Griffith was one of the best TV (and movie) personalities ever.

The news leaves me very melancholy today. I'll have to watch the episode titled "Man in a Hurry" tonight. Very sad day.

WOW! That "there's more to life" episode had an immeasurable impact on me. A true classic and one I remember most from the series.

I still consider the Andy Griffith Show to be one of the top five all time great TV shows. I'll take reruns of that over literally any show on the five major broadcast networks.

Loved the Andy Griffith show and liked Matlock. No time for Sergeants is a classic. He was great in "A Face In The Crowd". I still watch both of his TV shows on Netflix. RIP Andy!

"Winter Kill" is also a fantastic Andy Griffith movie. We may be watching an Andy Griffith marathon at our house this weekend. frown.gif

As good as AG was at keeping the peace in Mayberry, it was Barney Fife who supplied the "magic" on the show.wink.gif

No question that Don Knotts was outstanding; watch the episode I mentioned above and see what the show was all about.

This was sad news to hear. A local channel where I live has been showing The Andy Griffith show weekdays at 5:30pm since the 80s. They had a segment on their news today where their staff told their favorite Andy Griffith memories. Some of them whistled the famous theme music.

Call me old fashioned but the AG show is a great moral compass and funny to boot. A real and sorely missed rarity today.

I wish more people were a bit more old fashioned.

Maybe we would get to know our neighbors better and have respect for people's property and their beliefs.

Heck, at this point, I'd settle for people not leaving their shopping carts in the parking spaces and putting down their phones once in a while...

Baby steps...

From all that I've ever known about him, Andy was truly a great guy and I was highly saddened to read of his passing... may he rest in peace. frown.gif

See, now Any would never need a cell phone.

If you need to get ahold of him, you just tell Gomer, who will tell Floyd. who will tell Barney and he'll tell Andy when he gets back from fishing with Opie.

In a town where the Sheriff almost never used his radio and two old ladies got to occupy the phone system all Sunday long, having a cell phone would be blasphemous... wink.gif

Thats the great thing about DVDs. I don't have The Andy Griffith Show but I do have I Dream of Jeannie, Hogan's Heroes, and Gilligan's Island on DVD from the 60s.
