Yes - really stuck out. I know that Fashion is a UK industry - and we have some famous models and designers - but it really didn't suit the event.

Stick thin models don't contrast well with healthy, fit athletes - I know who I think are better role models for the next generation... I'd far rather young girls watched wanted to grow up to be Jessica Ennis, Laura Trott, Victoria Pendleton etc. than Kate Moss or Naomi Campbell... (I don't have anything against Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell personally - I just don't think the industry they are in is particularly healthy, and I think it has too much influence on what young kids think is 'normal')

They've cut Emeli Sande again? Did they leave in the Pet Shop Boys, Madness and One Direction? Can't imagine they'll edit out One Direction (though they appeared to be the first act of the night lipsyncing)

Those 3 groups were left in [pet shop boys, madness and one direction].

If a movie or concert video or a TV show isn't on blu ray it darn well should be.

I wonder what the thinking is on what is cut and what isn't.

I still turn into a weepy mess when I hear "Imagine", particularly in such an appropriate setting...

Emeli Sandi was in there at 8:20 EDT. But no Ray Davies unless they are scrambling it.

She appeared twice in the closing ceremony - maybe they edited out one but not both?

Hats off to the Brits and London as a whole.

The venues were great, and the backdrops you got to see behind so many events was probably the best man-made scenery of any games in recent memory (I'm partial to the snow covered mountaintops surrounding many Winter Olympic host cities).

Never really had the desire to attend the Olympics, but from what we saw, these looked like they would have been a blast to attend.

I only know is that NBC started their coverage of the closing ceremony with Emile Sande.

They were all kind of segues so that makes sense - and visually more spectacular.

George Michael surprised a lot of people by doing such a good job on Freedom - sounded like those were live vocals, but his second number (White Light?) sounded like a track (did both numbers survive the NBC edit? Wouldn't be surprised if they ditched the second one - it kind of felt superfluous here).

I think we surprised a few people wink.gif We got all our pomp and pageantry out of the way during the Diamond Jubilee (The Queen celebrated 60 years as monarch earlier this year)

Beach Volleyball in Horse Guards Parade, Equestrian Events in Greenwich, a Marathon and Triathlon course through such great historic locations (including in front of Buckingham Palace) were highlights. I think the crowds at all the events were fantastic - the TeamGB guys got amazing support - but other countries did too.

The sailors all said that having thousands of people able to watch the events from the shore - and being able to hear them cheer - was amazing, and very unusual. Don't remember the same thing happening in 2008.

I think the other big change from previous years has been that the events have had a lot of production - not just the TV coverage. There's been a conscious effort to make them events - just as you guys do at football matches. So there's been music, DJs, MCs at many of them - creating an atmosphere that may not be quite what people expect of us 'stuffy Brits'...

CTV started its replay at 7:47, NBC started at 8:16. Yet they are both at the same spot at the closing ceremony. So NBC has already cut out 30 minutes.

By all accounts, the opening ceremonies (which I missed) were stunning. So why is the closing such a snore-fest?

"I knew you'd say that"...*BLAM!*

I like on the NBC broadcast how when they show a hand held camera shot of the Olympians during performances they keep the audio from the camera's mic off.
On the internet broadcast they kept turning the audio from the camera mic on and it took away from the performances.
I guess I need to thank Wendel for that.

BTW - As long as we're offering props to many of the folks involved with the London Games, I'd like to offer a big shout out to sneals2000. He's been a real iron horse sticking with the thread and contributing a lot of 'inside baseball' about the goings on. Thanks much !!!

On NBC for The Spice Girls performance all the audio is on the L & R channels.
Did any of the musical performances have vocals in the center channel?
The echo on their performance is the same as the internet was.

More echo on the cover of "Wonder Wall".
I guess it's just the nature of the stadium?
Are the musical performances sent already mixed to NBC?
