British 007 fans rejoice. You'll soon have access to non-stop James Bond around the clock, day in and day out.

British Sky Broadcasting has announced that it will dedicate an entire channel to the full catalogue of James Bond films. The movies will be broadcast 24 hours a day in HD on a channel called Sky Movies 007 HD. The channel will premiere on October 5, less than one month before the premiere of the latest James Bond movie, Skyfall. All 22 of the MGM Bond films, from Dr. No to Quantum of Solace will play on the channel, as will the 1967 spoof Casino Royale and the 1983 Sean Connery movie Never Say Never Again.

“The Bond movies are a very special franchise and we want to ensure that our customers to be able to experience it in a way they’ve never been able to before, and so we’re going to create a dedicated channel…showing the entire catalogue of films and loads of extra material,” said Ian lewis, director of Sky Movies. “We’re delighted that our customers will have the best Bond movie-watching experience ever with Sky Movies – uninterrupted, in HD, on demand, and on the go.”

All of the Bond films will also be made available through Sky’s Anytime+ on-demand service and its streaming service Sky Go. Subscribers to the Sky internet TV service Now TV will also be able to view the James Bond catalogue.

Might as well create a TV series since they're giving him his own channel...

When they have their monthly marathon every couple years on Epix, they're shown OAR. Encore, on the other hand, no.

I'm really questioning how such a thing is sustainable long term. Running 24 hours a day, that's only about 2 days worth of content assuming roughly 2 hours per movie times approximately 20 movies. Even if they mix in an hour of "extras" between each movie, that still only gets you 3 days.

After the first week or so of people potentially tuning in because it's new, I see a huge dropoff occuring after.

Honestly, they're missing an excellent opportunity to create network devoted to Bristish spy TV shows and movies. The could incorporate other movies featuring Bristish spies, then mix it up with previous episodes of MI6, Danger Man, etc. Finally, they could do some specials about the history of spycraft and counterintelligence, including documentaries about some of the biggest spy stories in history.

That would a be a cool channel.

This is just a loop. Loops get old pretty quickly.

My guess is that it will run for a couple of months - a bit like Sky Movies Summer and Sky Movies Christmas do.

I suspect rather than showing every movie in sequence, they'll rotate them so that you can watch each one in primetime, and others out of primetime. Whether they show the same one in primetime for a week, or change each day, I don't know?

More interesting is that they are on Anytime+ - which is a pretty neat broadband VOD service which downloads content to your PVR hard drive, and in many cases the recordings are identical to off-air (in quality and length of time you can retain them)

Hey Rezzy! You never saw JAMES BOND JR. sadly. This idiot animated series ( if my memory is correct) had the son of 007 (along with his sidekicks: Felix Leiter Jr. and Moneypenny) chasing the criminals of S.C.U.M. And no, i can't remember what it stood for. Evil leaders included Goldfinger, and a painful Walker D. Plank! Gonna watch?biggrin.gif

My guess, if your assessment of the show is accurate, it would stand for:

Stupid
Childish
Undermining
Moneygrab

I give it one month before the ratings drop to zero. They should call it the Spy Channel and play other stuff as well..

With the exception of Goldfinger, Casino Royale (2006) and Quantum of Solace, all of which I have on Blu-ray, many Bond films don't hold up upon repeated viewings.

As an earlier poster stated this channel won't sustain long-term ratings.

It'll last....they'll just have to go the "Sci-Fi" (SYFY) route and start showing wrestling, MMA, ghost-hunting, and other crap that has nothing at all to do with the name of the channel.

I absolutely love Live and Let Die and License to Kill. Don't think I'd want to watch them every other day, though.
