I had enough in my budget for 2 premium channels. Which should I choose between HBO, Sowtime, Starz, and Cinemax?

HBO owns Cinemax, so I would definitely opt for HBO due to their superior original programming and series such as Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, True Blood etc. The movies that premiere on HBO will eventually find their way to Cinemax & vice versa. And, if you are thinking of a 2nd premium channel, then definitely get Showtime which also owns The Movie Channel (TMC). Showtime also has some really good original programs such as Homeland, Dexter, Shameless and others. Enjoy!

If you're more into movies I would get Starz over Showtime

Yeah. Showtime does have some great original shows, but their movie selection is awful.

I'm with Boiler on HBO. They have great originals, and great movies, and eventually everything on Max comes to HBO I believe.

Or you could to what others here do, including myself form time to time. Alternate premiums each month to catch up on shows/movies from each premium provider.

Personally, I'm not subscribed to any of them right now...I just have Netflix.

Except for Cinemax's new original series' - which is the whole point of making them, I guess.

If you're a sports fan, it may be cheaper to get the premium tier introductory price then decide which 2 to unsubscribe to next year. My 2 picks would HBO and Showtime though.

I wouldn't bother with Sowtime. Pigs just aren't compelling enough for an entire premium channel...

For me the only criteria is original programming. I've been weaning myself off of the new customer discounts and am down to HBO and Showtime from having all 4.

I can't tell the difference in movie selection, they all kind of suck, but at least Showtime is usually OAR.

I'm enjoying the Franchise show on Showtime, and they have a few interesting things coming in the fall, and HBO always seems to have something interesting floating around, like reruns of their documentary series, which is always worth a view.

Eve: I thought I was through getting involved with men who were trouble. Falling in love on a look. I can't look at you.

Mickey: You have perfection about you. Your eyes have music. Your heart's the best part of your body. And when you move, every man, woman and child is forced to watch.

Might help to know your TV provider. If you had Charter you could get HBO, Cinemax and Showtime combined for $20 a month.

I'd pick Showtime for their original series. They're the best, IMO.

Good luck! biggrin.gif
