Maybe I've missed this news--but, does anybody know if "Vegas" is being renewed for next season? I REALLY like this show. I think the storyline is great. Whomever is the "set-dresser" is doing a fine job. I.E.-furnishings of rooms/casinos. Likewise for the people picking out the wardrobe for the characters--all proper styles for the '50's/'60's. Also the hairstylists/makeup crew. And, as mentioned before, the cars of that period look great here. It also appears that Dennis Quaid is really enjoying his character. As is Michael Chiklis. I feel the show is great escapism. I think I read that the ratings for the show aren't that good (I hope not). I'd really like to see the show continue.

No, Vegas hasn't been renewed by CBS as of yet.
I've only read articles that say its one of the "bubble" shows, so CBS is probably deciding based on the ratings for the last few episodes of this season on Friday nights now.
The articles say Vegas gets good overall ratings, but very low ratings in the key younger age group that is coveted by advertisers - thats the problem.
Hence why in recent episodes the writers added a plot with the young son of the Sheriff and a Hollywood starlet, to try to attract younger viewers.
I think this is the same problem CBS had with the series "JAG" years back, mostly older folks watched it...

Yes, and this "older folk" just bought his 4th HDTV this afternoon. Old farts with money buy stuff, too.

While spending money is important, a lot of what advertisers are looking for is to build brand loyalty and to build it early with a younger generation who will buy those products long into the future, much longer than you and I will anyhow. Older generations are typically reluctant to change brands, if they've been happy with their Fords they're very unlikely to move to a Chevy.

Maybe that's why I've owned at least one Honda every year since the first one I bought in 1980 although I have had other brands during that time as well including Buicks, Toyotas, Chevys (including a Corvette), Fords, and Dodges. Oh, wait... that kind of blows that theory doesn't it? Of course I am reluctant to change TV brands, only owning Sonys, Panasonics, and Samsungs (oh, and Mitsubishi) the past 25+ years. Then there are appliances, Kenmore, Whirlpool, GE and on and on and on. Lawn mowers? Let's see, I've owned Toro, Honda, and John Deere. And, we also buy our groceries at several different stores. Shall I continue? smile.gif

This shows that you are probably a wise purchaser, something that most buyers are not. I'm the same way, I don't really care who makes it as long as it does what it is supposed to do and I enjoy it doing such. Very few ads ever have any impact on me as I always do my own research before making any purchase of note and I suspect you are the same way. Typically most people are not and those are the people marketing campaigns go after and want to "lock-in" early. smile.gif

My DVR didn't pick it up as it thought it was airing Friday.

I just found it online, but watching online is no substitute for watching dvr'd on big screen!

My DVR missed it too, & I was on vacation so there was no way for me to schedule a recording for Sat.

I built an inexpensive HTPC to use as a DVR. But since it's connected to the Internet it has come in handy to watch some TV programs that get missed for one reason or the other. In this case it was real easy to view the missed episode of Vegas on cbs.com on the big screen. It may not be as nice as watching from a DVR & skipping commercials, but IMHO it beats watching on a PC monitor.

Hmmm. Didn't JAG run for at least 7 years? It also spun off one of the most successful CBS shows, NCIS.

It's really a shame as I also like this show. I hope they renew. Maybe the cast costs too much?

Yes, it is a good show. If it cancelled, I wonder what dreck will take its place.

I just read that this show is NOT being renewed for next season. I'm sorry to hear this. As I said (in an earlier post), I really did like this show. At least this week's show (fairly nicely) wrapped things up. All except for Jack and Mia. Once again-sorry to see it go. Here's the list I saw for cancellations:

Deception (NBC): Cancelled.

Animal Practice (NBC): Put down.

Do No Harm (NBC): Harmed.

30 Rock (NBC): Over.

Guys with Kids (NBC): You can’t believe how cancelled this is.

The Office (NBC): Closed.

Smash (NBC): Smushed.

Up All Night (NBC): Christina Applegate quit: This was cancelled … by its own star!

Whitney (NBC): Thankfully.

1600 Penn (NBC): Impeached.

Made in Jersey (CBS): Terminated.

Private Practice (ABC): Spin-off heaven.

Partners (CBS): Dumped

Ben & Kate (Fox): & Cancelled.

Vegas (CBS): Lost.

Go On (NBC): Get out.

Fringe (Fox): R.I.P.

Touch (Fox): Touchable.

The Job (CBS): What?

The Mob Doctor (Fox): Ha! That title. Yeah. Deceased.

Don’t Trust the B– in Apt. 23 (ABC): Speaking of: Did anyone really believe a comedy with “B—-” in the title was going to last?

666 Park Avenue (ABC): Hellbound.

Last Resort (ABC): Indeed.

Rules of Engagement (CBS): Broken.

Golden Boy (CBS): Tarnished.

CSI: NY (CBS): Two down, one to go.

Zero Hour (ABC): Zero something all right.

Emily Owens, M.D. (The CW): Crashed.

How to Live with Your Parents (ABC): Evicted.

Red Widow (ABC): Exterminated.

Body of Proof (ABC): D.O.A.

The New Normal (NBC): Or not.

Family Tools (ABC): Put away.

Malibu Country (ABC): Overthrown.

Happy Endings (ABC): Until this happened.

90210 (The CW): Finished.

Cult (The CW): Unfollowed.

UPDATES TO COME…. REFRESH FOR LATEST…

THESE ARE SOME SHOWS STILL ON BUBBLE OR FATE UNCONFIRMED:

Hannibal (NBC)

I liked Vegas and Golden Boy. I also liked Body of Proof but not this year's reboot as much. Oh well, get ready for another Dancing with the Stars while they survive diving boards and pawn all their stuff, or whatever garbage they decide we want to see.

Very disappointing.

Looking forward to 24 miniseries if it makes it.
