Agree with both of Vision's statements about why Elizabeth didn't shoot Gaad. It would bring on too much heat, and she probably recognized him. Fortunately for her, in his concussed and groggy state, he didn't remember her (it will be interesting to see what the sketch artist comes up with). But will that change the next time he runs into her socially? And was Stan starting to put 2 + 2 together, having seen Elizabeth nursing her injuries the night before?
Thought Nina was a goner back in Russia.
Being accused of espionage and treason was pretty much a death sentence back then (and maybe even now as well). Either quick, by firing squad, or slowly and miserably in a Siberian gulag. But I liked how they left her fate somewhat open-ended, contingent on Arkady's actions...? Not clear on how he can help her now.
There were a couple of head-scratchers for me regarding the new characters that have been introduced (and in one case, quickly dispatched). Those recruitments must have taken place during the break between last season and this in "show time". But I expect all that background will be clarified going forward. Love the addition of the great Frank Langella as, perhaps, their first handler? Also looking forward to the return of Margo Martindale as Claudia now that she's freed up from 'The Millers' or whatever that sitcom nonsense she was slumming in has been cancelled.
There are endless arguments about what is "the best show on television". From the very first episode of this series, I was sure this was going to be a contender and have expressed that sentiment many times here and elsewhere (the transcendent 'Breaking Bad' was #1
for me, 'Justified #2
). This show, like BB, is nearly perfect on every level and also like BB, seems to get better every year. Already looks like this season will be no different. Bring it on! This is really good stuff, folks.
