I am catching up on season 3. I just finished watching the episode where Elizabeth managed to evade the authorities. She abandoned the car she drove with her fingerprints inside. Apparently, no one from the FBI bothered to dust the car for fingerprints. I hate it when they miss something like that.

It is very unlikely Elizabeth's fingerprints are in the FBI database; why would they be? Even if the Bureau were to find an intact print somewhere in the car, it would come up "unknown", no matches.

She has a driver license. The DMV has her fingerprints. The FBI can access DMV database. I think the show creators got a little lazy with this one. I would have liked it a lot better if they simply had her take a moment to wipe off her fingerprints.

Not every state takes fingerprints, especially back in the 80s.

Plus it would be smarter for them to fake IDs, licenses, passports.

Rather than have their real bio details in some database.

Yeah, I've had driver's licenses in four states and they never took my prints. They're not in anybody's database. Does any state actually do that, and were they doing it back in the 80's?

My first California DL had a thumb print. I don't recall when the state switched to a mugshot but it was quite awhile ago.

I got my California DL in 1960. They may have taken a thumb print at the time. I know they did later. I had a New York DL for a time as well and they had no prints at all....

You're forgetting this show takes place in 1982/1983.

There was no database back then.

The only files the FBI would have would be what they got if you applied to military service or some other government job - or actually arrested for a federal crime. Shoplifting or robbing someone? The FBI still wouldn't know you exist.

FYI was listening to Greenwald/Chris Ryan's podcast this morning. Greenwald mentioned he has seen the first episode of the upcoming season and he loves it. Keep in mind it is his favorite show on tv right now. He said it picks up right where the finale of last season left off and goes deeper with it

I don't enjoy the last season as much as the first two. There is too much family drama and that Nina time-wasting BS.

Love the family drama, but don't care so much about Nina's adventures these days.

Remind me, did Nina get out?

Or she's still spying on the kidnapped scientist?

Nina's on another show as well, saw a promo for it. Can't remember which one it was, but it looked good. And she, of course, will look very good in it.

Personally, I'm looking forward to looking at more Nina this season. And so are Stan & Oleg. You know it's not going to be a happy ending for one of 'em.

It was 'The X-Files'. And it was just the first episode. Being interned in a Russian gulag is bad enough, but getting blown-up by a UFO is such an indignity.
