Getting more and more irritated with the level of bleeping just everywhere on TV today...and the bleeps are getting louder and higher pitched to boot. Just now I switch on CNN and within two minutes Glenn Beck is LOUDLY bleeped (I mean, you could hear it from another room).

I turn the channel to Fallon to catch the interview with Cuba Good Jr., show is playing OJ Simpson on American Crime Story. I swear AS SOON AS I turned the channel BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP (laugher). Just unbelievable. You can real tell the level of true comic genius when you go back and watch episodes of Leno, Lettterman, and Carson. This new breed is just dull.

Now KUDOS to American Crime Story for NOT bleeping swear words. UNFREAKING BELIEABLE!!! Then even said the racial epitaph; heck, the networks in their zest for censorship and zeal for bleeping content (I think they seek out every opportunity to do so), bleeped Obama when he used the word despite being the presidentt, despite he used the word for a PURPOSE, and despite him using the word in context. Go figure. When Oprah used the word on her talk show in the 90's with guest from the Simpson trial the word WAS NOT BLEEPED. Isn't society supposed to be getting more progressive?

Whoa, CNN is having one fat FIELD DAY!!!! Yes they are! As CNN trolls the airwaves for any word it can justify bleeping, the executives get so joyful that they tripped over themselves racing to edit the word and insert the high-pitch annoying bleep sound. I think it is what they live for. Now, we have the black comedian at the President's White House Correspondents Dinner utter the word nigga on exiting. Now , what CNN does not seem to realize is this: The N-Word is offensive, even though it should not have been bleeped earlier in the year BECAUSE OBAMA INTENDED TO USE THE WORD FOR A PURPOSE!!!! What right does CNN have to edit that purpose. They don't care because they jump for joy at ANY opportunity to bleeeeeeep a word.

Now regarding nigga versus the N-Word; there is a huge difference that CNN does not realize; hire a socialist please:

Nigga is not an offensive term when used by one black man to another; nigga is a word of endearment according to many in the black community. Apparently CNN does not know the difference; or, just a likely, they do, but WANTED to find a reason to once again use their beloved bbbbbbbbblllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeppppppppp censor.

TNT the same way....they had a post game interview with Andrew Bogart of the Warriors, and of all the questions asked, TNT only takes the one where Bogart can be bleeeeeeeeeeeepeeeeeeeed four times; and they intentionally provoke him by asking if he can be annoying so they can get a response that will be bleeepeed. Same for the Today show when they ask people questions or cover presidential primaries. Seek out the bleeeps is the motto.

If it was only about preventing an inappropriate word from going over the air, they could just use a good-old mute button. The bleep is there for excitement and stimulation.

Silence is golden.

More creeping of bleeping.......not really creeping anymore as it has arrived and only getting more frequent and more intense. I am watching ESPN Special OJ: Made in America, and am greeted by several bleeeeeeeps, I then go to my DVR to watch a documentary on Ted Williams, and get another bleeeep for an f-bomb within three minutes, so I turn to FOX and hear perhaps the loudest, most intense, highest-pitch beep ever (I think you literally could probably could have heard it outside of my house) when Trump says the word BITCH. Fox just had to show the clip where he swore (of course the did; Trump is the media darling because they get to use their beloved bleeeeeep censor more often). Just incredible; cannot even watch The Smithsonian Channel. The new creeping is bleeeeeeeps during commercials, which used to be nonexistent, and actually illegal in the UK. Our society today.

If we include blurs, last week Idiotest had a naked episode and they had almost constant bluring for the half-hour game show. Week before that they had a test that was a simple cross-word puzzle where one letter would make a swear word and the contestant said that word, but instead of a beep it was a break in the sound.
Spoiler!
The host just had to ask, "Do you really think we would make the correct answer for a G-rated show be a swear word?"

My very humble setup:
Spoiler!

Latest.....Cavs celebrating with parade....and James lets out a big bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. Please just don't show that segment of his speech or edit it out. Really need the bleeps for "excitement" as a previous member commented? Really very little on TV anymore that does not have bleeps.

Why do the networks feel justified in showing murders, such as the recent police shootings, or the 9/11 atrocity, with disclaimers, yet; at the same, time , loudly bleep out swear words, some innocuous as s----. I think it is hypocritical, irrupting, and lacks full disclosure which apparently is what the networks are attempting to do by showing the murders. Is as simple as networks executives love to use the bleep censor whenever possible for "excitement." And not just the networks, but cable such as CNN which has obligation under the FCC to bleep this words (and, please, if you just must, either mute the language or use a less invasive noise.)

New entry....saw that a new version of the Newlywed game is on in HD,,,,,but, you guessed it....bleep, bleeeeep, bleeeeep. The original show was on for nine years, and I bet you there was not one bleep. I had wanted a new, "What's my line." I enjoy the videos on YouTube, especially the mystery guests. But can you imagine if they brought it back today! There were be massive bleeps during that show when people made mistakes or were astonished at answers or when the celebrity was announced. In fact, I bet you there were would be ten bleeeeps per show, while during its 10+ years on the airs I would venture there were ZERO bleeps. Sad commentary on modern culture.

The executives of CNN relish these mass killings. No better way to get the needless "exciting" bleeps on the air. I heard the warning about graphic violence; unfortunately, it edited the language. CNN can warn you and show violence and killings....even mass gory killings, but it cannot keep its fingers of the loud, high-pitch annoying bleeps regardless. Good times for CNN.

I will agree with you about the new games shows. The only game show I find worth watching is Jeopardy.

I disagree about Pokemon. I've been having a blast meeting new peeps, battling and catching them. What can I say, I'm an old broad who likes video games .

I would like to apologize to anyone I have not yet offended. Please be patient and I will get to you shortly. Crap I say

The 2016 incarnation of "Match Game" on ABC uses a slide whistle noise to bleep out profanities.  They also pixelate the panelists’ crude drawings.

Thank you. Anyone why all the networks and their affiliates, all cable channels, and even the paid movie channels (e.g., HBO is replete with bleeps in its non-movie programming) all use the irritating, high-pitch bleep to censor language. Can they not come up with a sound that is less invasive?

These are what I have seen in various TV shows:

Irritating?SoundComment
Most AnnoyingThe high-volume, high-pitch beepThis is the most distracting, drawing attention to the censoring rather than just enjoying the bowdlerized content.
ModeratesilenceWait! Did I have an audio drop-out? A bad edit? But it is much easier to "hear" (or rather not hear) than the high-pitch sound close to the pitch of my tinnitus.
Slightly better than moderateslide whistleNot as irritating as the loud beep, not questioning the sound drop-out, but still draws attention to bowdlerization of the media.
Even betterJust let us hear that (expletive deleted) word!Sometimes a well-placed expletive works best. Maybe restrict it to between 10pm-6am, or on a subscription channel. Maybe that is why I tend to favor the "unrated Director's Cut" if given the option when renting a disc on Netflix. (Yes, in the United States of America Netflix still does DVDs and Blu-rays!) I might favor something else if I had children living here.
igreg, dattier and Nayan like this.

Every time I think the networks, cable channel have reached a new low for bleeps, the frequency expands to a new low. Tonight on CNN Fareed Zakaria says that Donald Trumps spews bu------t, with a loud bleeeeeeeeep. Now, this is not a roundtable discussion; this is a PREPARED statement by Fareed Zakaria, so he knows the word BS is going to be bleeped. So why does he say it?! Further, unbelievable when he uses that language on Trump when he was suspended from CNN and Time for plagiarism: https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifes...eb2_story.html

Then, within the next minute or two, Bill O'Reilly has a short segment on Poekmon Go, and, of course, he picks in that short segment a person who utters a swear word that is bleeped out.. Now he could have chosen from thousands of comments regarding Pokémon GO, but PURPOSELY decides to pick one with profanity so they can bleep it out.

CNN just itching for a new mass murder so it can use its bleep censor more often, because it is really stretching to try and use it now. Unbelievable.

By the way, why does the innocuous word b.s. need to be bleeped?! Hugh Grant just got bleeped on Kimmel for saying it. So I turn to Fox news and commentator gets loud bleep for saying b.s.
JUST STOP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today's TV: bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep. Multiply by 100 if it is a reality show, which is basically thoughtless dialogue inserted between bleeps. I'll bet you most reality shows have 100 or more bleeps per episode. This did not happen prior to 2000.

Strategist Liz Mair called Donald Trump a “loud mouth d..k” live on CNN, and it is not bleeped out.

Progress or just because live broadcast with no time delay? Interesting when or if CNN replays the exchange whether it will bleep out the word. Most likely, and most likely the exchange will be rebroadcast several times on CNN, so the network can at least get its daily bleep quota.

Different channel I know, but Joe Scarborough said the "f-word" on MSNBC and it wasn't beeped. Live TV.
