I'm just going to have to book a trip to Spa next year to make me feel better. ;-)

"Rush" was really good. Definitely worth going to see.
But get this. I walked into the theater about 10 minutes early and it was empty. About the time the previews started an older couple came in. And then a little after that some guy came in alone.
There were only 4 people in the theater during the movie. eek.gif Really disappointed.

Sorry didn't see previous post. Still no comment on the spa. Maybe if you had that Mclaren your prospects would improve :-)

Its possible Kimi will not race in Korea. He said his back feels better but he would "have to wait to see how it feels in practice".

Rush came in 3rd at the box office this weekend. $10 mil. Not bad.
There was a really good story about Rush and Ron Howard on CBS News Sunday Morning.

Excellent movie! I can't believe it was only 3rd. The matinee we attended was well over half full.

Went to 7:20PM show last night. Only about 12 people in the theater. Movie was great, but turnout was disappointing. By the way, did anyone notice the internal engine scenes which I would say is a "tribute" to the same type of detail in Grand Prix (1966). Also a personal interest item for me was the flash of the 1976 British Grand Prix poster as I was there and have the same (original) poster hanging on the wall at home.smile.gif

The internal engine scenes were very cool.
On a different note. This may seem strange but one of the scenes that struck me the most was when the fan was asking for an autograph from Lauda and asked him to date it. Very sobering and very telling of those times in F1.

Actually, $10mil is pretty much a flop as far as Hollywood is concerned. Hopefully it will do better overseas.

Maybe Howard should have made a movie about rednecks making left turns for 500 miles. That would have attracted the NASCAR crowd. rolleyes.gif

Rain is projected for quali and the race.
This year they are using Medium and SuperSoft rather than Soft and SuperSoft like last year. Will Ferrari or Lotus be able to do the race with just 1 stop?

At least it was cheap to make:

That said, Ron Howard’s Formula One racing drama Rush raced off with a rather lackluster $10.3 million in its expansion from five theaters into 2,297 locations. The Universal-distributed film, which stars Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl, marks a major decrease from Howard’s last sports drama, Cinderella Man, which punched up $18.3 million in its 2005 debut. For Hemsworth, Rush (obviously) started off slower than both Thor and The Avengers, but it also under-performed compared to his non-superhero vehicles The Cabin in the Woods ($14.7 million) and Red Dawn ($14.3 million). The film will need great word of mouth to drive it to profitability, and given its strong “A-” CinemaScore, it may achieve that. Also working in Rush‘s favor? Its relatively low $38 million budget.

It should do much better over seas. F1 is HUGE there, whereas the US doesn't really know/care about it.
