Not the way I saw it.
It looked to me like Perez did a Hail-Mary move and stuck his nose in where there really wasn't any opening to begin with and it cost a guy who is fighting for the championship some critical points.

Don't get me wrong, I like the kid....he has obvious talent.
But he has been doing some reckless things on track and is making F1 even more dangerous for his fellow competitors.wink.gif

Alonso's perspective:

Oh the Grosjean incident, clearly DiRiccardo hit the brakes like 200m earlier, and Grosjean gets penalized? WTF
Was Crashjean paying attention or had he lost his concentration once again?

Perez just stuck his nose where it didn't belong.Kimi had the line, just because Perez saw some daylight dosen't mean it's open.

Perez saw that if he shoved his nose into the corner the other drivers would not risk a crash, so he kept on doing it over and over again. That's not passing. He was never in front of the other guy going into the corner. He just bet on the other guy not wanting to crash. Not someone I would feel safe racing with, he makes the sport more dangerous.

I was aware of the controversy concerning the Mercedes-Pirelli tire tests but the TV guys weren't taking it too seriously. The piece to which you posted a link, however. makes it appear as if the FIA thinks it's very serious indeed.

LOL, but you love the high downforce cars!

What is a driver to do? He either tries to pass when there is a very small/no opening (unless there is the artificial DRS zones) or he stays in line. If the former and he makes it, then he is a hero. If not, then he is considered aggresive and reckless. If he stays in line, then people start to question whether he has what it takes to be in F1.

My guide data was also screwed up. mad.gif My recording started after the race when they were playing highlights of the race. Not sure if it's a local problem or what NBC made available for download. Either way, it was disappointing.

And then again some drivers make great passes and everyone survives.Sutil made a few great moves,2 of them at the Grand Hotel hairpin, aggressive but clean.Perez just tries to barge his way through.Perez is fast but needs to clean up his act if he can.

McLaren said his moves were "brutal and entertaining". And after the race Button said Perez's move on him was a great move. rolleyes.gif Doesnt look like Perez is going to change any time soon.

Yes. That was a great move. I remember it. I dont understand why Alonso went so wide to begin with. He basically let him by.
I hope you dont think I was defending Perez. I was trying to show that McLaren seems to think his driving was fine. They even made Button say so. biggrin.gif

While he is a bit of a weapon, he is exciting to watch. He is pushing a car that obviously needs some fine tuning, much like his race craft.

As Alonso noted. What makes him most dangerous is that he has nothing to lose. The Championship is over for McLaren and Perez.

That's Mc Laren most likely doing their press thing. Fernando left the door open perhaps coming in too hot and when he hit the klag it was all over. Sutil was like a Cat and pounced on the mistake.

Bridgestone?Seems to be a lot of unknowns.Between the tire woes , next engine format, and how they will perform and who can afford them, seems F1 may be at a crossroads. Not saying F1 will fold, that will never happen, but the quality of the product may be strained.mad.gif

Good stuff. Thanks.
Gary Anderson is right. The midseason change will forever make everyone question who the real Champion is. Time will tell...
Too bad all the drama is about the tires.
