Red Bull 1 was untouched and at this point looks to be pulling away for the midseason. Lets see how they hold up. I see no one has mentioned Ferrari #1 passing under the yellow. That should have been a penalty. Mercedes looks to be coming to grips with the tire problems and may end up the third best team. McLaren may end up sixth or seventh if they don't do something quick. As for Lotus, the team seemed to be off a bit. I am sure they will bounce back at the next race.

My new favorite game is Save The Titanic

Agreed.

FWIW, there is movement to bring back testing during the season:

I think Ferrari will incur a penalty for that this week.wink.gif

IMO,it would be wrong to penalize Ferrari after the fact, kind of like taking back a home run after the game. But it is F1,it is what it is.eek.gif

Yeah Red Bull back in their stride, Vettel probably going to be untouchable for another championship, though i hope Alonso takes the fight to them. Looks like Lotus have lost the plot after starting out so well, even Kimi cont drag the car up the grid andGrosjean under-performing.

JEV did a great job as did DiResta, there's 2 guys on the way up. British GP should be interesting, especially as my home town weather is usually unpredictable (to say the least) !

NASCAR Pocono was a snore-fest !

There should have been an in-race penalty IMO.

The whole racing weekend was a snoozer (outside of the Nationwide race, which had a good rain-delayed finish in Iowa yesterday) - Castroneves ran away in Texas, Vettel in Montreal, and Johnson in Pocono. I think there were only 4 cars left on the lead lap for the IndyCar race.

Yeah snoozer race this one also, like 10 cars on the lead lap? what the heck? I was almost rooting when Vettel almost lost the car, still he only lost 4 seconds and got them quickly..

I now officially completely gave up on McLaren-Mercedes, I don't see them even on the podium the rest of the year..

Maybe they can right the ship during the summer break.
Adopting (or attempting to) Ferrari's suspension idea isn't panning out for them.
OTOH, it didn't work for Maranello very well in the beginning either.wink.gif

I thought it was a pretty interesting race. Vettel lapping Kimi? Wow. Watching Uni I can only see what i see, but Weber comfortably following Nico, after both had made their first stop, but with Weber on primes and Nico options, was hard to believe. Later, Nico's tires went off and Weber motored on by. Wow again.

Interesting podium - the lead driver for three teams - 4th and 5th being the second driver for two of those teams. And then there was Massa ... made up a bunch of positions, which was good, but he only had to because of crashing in qualifying.

Weird, when I saw them getting the crane out for whomever it was at the end there, I thought they were hurrying, what with only 3 laps to go, and they should just forget about it. Looks like I was right - they killed a guy. That crane was hauling when I saw it.

Eve: I thought I was through getting involved with men who were trouble. Falling in love on a look. I can't look at you.

Mickey: You have perfection about you. Your eyes have music. Your heart's the best part of your body. And when you move, every man, woman and child is forced to watch.

What do you mean they killed a guy?

I saw Gutierrez running out of there towards the pits, the crane went full steam to get the car out and that's it..

Unless Massa wins at least half of the remaining races, I think he is gone next year.
There will be too many good drivers available.

Well..."The Sebastian Vettel Show". What else can be said. I gotta hand it to him. Hes a hell of a driver. Got the pole in the wet and dominated the race. A true Champion.

Great to see Alonso do so well. He fought hard and deserved 2nd. He would have finished 2nd regardless of the pass under yellow. Insignificant as far as Im concerned. The Championship is still alive.

Im done with Massa. No more excuses. He has done badly long enough to show that its not just a fluke. He has never been Championship material and does not belong at Ferrari. Adios!

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

True, but I gotta wonder what Charley Whiting will say.

Charley deals with regulations. He wont have anything to say about a punk ass passing under yellow of a backmarker that had no significance in the outcome of the race. The FIA guys and guest driver in the booth should have called that. They even pointed it out in a replay on tv and nothing was said. Id say hes pretty safe. One of the perks of being a well respected 2 time World Champion driving for Ferrari.

Given the availability of other top drivers not under contract (almost none), what else was Ferrari going to do? There's also the fact that Alonso has a lot of say-so within Ferrari and probably would want a hand in the selection of who his teammate would be.

I think you overestimate Alonsos influence. He will drive with whomever Ferrari tells him to.

+1
I'll bet Alonso has some input on driver qualifications, but little influence on actual driver selection. It's possible Ferrari won't consult him at all and he'll end up learning about it the way everyone else does.

If it was common knowledge, then why did you make this statement: "I said the same thing about Massa last year. I was very disappointed when they signed him for another year."

To which I responded: "Given the availability of other top drivers not under contract (almost none), what else was Ferrari going to do?"

I was interested to hear your opinion on what Ferrari should have done, that's all. It didn't seem to me like they had many options - let alone any better options than Massa.

Wouldnt that depend on what part of the season it is? All the good drivers did not have contracts for 2013 the entire year of 2012. As far as Im concerned they could have picked up Sergio Perez and that was in discussions. They could have picked up Adrian Sutil, Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton...

Fanboy much. If this was any other team especially Mclaren then you would have said they need to be penalized. The fact is he passed under yellow and it was caught on camera. According to the regs, he should have been assessed a drive through penalty. Since the race is over, the FIA should give him a twenty second penalty in accordance with the regs. This means Merc #1 moves to 2nd and RB #2 moves to 3rd with Ferrari #1 going down to 4th.

The YELLOW is a safety issue not a competitive issue. Of course it had no significance on the outcome of the race, but that is not the point.

Hmmmm, you think he really would have driven with Hamilton. Did you just start watching F1 last year or forget about his crybaby antics at Mclaren?

If you say he has no choice (and it isn't in his contract), then I would say he could easily retire and force Ferrari's hand.

My new favorite game is Save The Titanic
