All this talk about Banshee being at Comic-Con. I guess it's mainly there for the comic book series Banshee: Origins

Some cool pictures from Greg Yaitanes (the Executive producer of Banshee)

Such an awesome show. Can't wait for its return

Cinemax Confirms January 10 Premiere for Season 2 of 'Banshee'
Written By Sara Bibel October 17th, 2013

via press release:

EMMY®-WINNING SERIES BANSHEE RETURNS FOR

SECOND SEASON JAN. 10, EXCLUSIVELY ON CINEMAX

NEW YORK, Oct. 17, 2013 – BANSHEE returns for its ten-episode second season FRIDAY, JAN. 10 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT), it was announced today by CINEMAX. The Emmy®-winning series is executive produced by Alan Ball, Peter Macdissi, Jonathan Tropper, David Schickler and Greg Yaitanes.

The series stars Antony Starr (“Rush”) as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pa., where he continues his criminal activities, even as he’s being hunted by the shadowy gangsters he betrayed years earlier. Other returning cast regulars include Ivana Milicevic (HBO’s “The Mind of the Married Man,” “Charlie’s Angels”) as Carrie Hopewell, a notorious jewel thief who now lives in Banshee under an assumed identity with her new family, who knows nothing of her past; Ulrich Thomsen (“The Celebration”) as Kai Proctor, an intimidating, wealthy businessman who believes he is above the law; and Frankie Faison (“The Good Wife,” HBO’s “The Wire”) as Sugar Bates, a powerful and wise former boxer and ex-con who is now the owner of the local watering hole.

Returning cast regulars also include Rus Blackwell (“Burn Notice,” HBO’s “Recount”) as Banshee’s district attorney, Gordon Hopewell, a Gulf War hero who is married to Carrie; Ryann Shane (“Blue Bloods”) as Deva Hopewell, Carrie and Gordon’s rebellious daughter; Ben Cross (“Star Trek,” “Ben Hur”) as Mr. Rabbit, a ruthless Ukrainian gangster who has been hunting Lucas and Carrie, his former top thieves, for 15 years; and Anthony Ruivivar (“Southland,” “Third Watch”) as Alex Longshadow, the son of Kinaho Tribe Chief Benjamin Longshadow. Odette Annable (“House M.D.,” “Cloverfield”) returns as Native American assassin Nola Longshadow.

New guest stars include Zeljko Ivanek (“Damages,” “Seven Psychopaths,” HBO’s “True Blood”) as Jim Racine, a chain-smoking, renegade FBI agent who has been tracking Rabbit for 15 years; Tatanka Means (“The Host,” “Tiger Eyes”) as Hoyt Rivers, head of security for Alex Longshadow; and Julian Sands (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” “24”), as Rabbit’s younger brother, a brilliant, devout and amoral Ukrainian priest who is just as dangerous.

BANSHEE is executive produced by Alan Ball (HBO’s “True Blood” and the Emmy®-winning “Six Feet Under”), Greg Yaitanes (Emmy® winner for directing “House M.D.”), Peter Macdissi (“Towelhead,” HBO’s “Six Feet Under”), Jonathan Tropper (author of the New York Times bestseller “This Is Where I Leave You”) and David Schickler (author of “Kissing in Manhattan” and “Sweet and Vicious”).

Scripts were written by Jonathan Tropper, David Schickler, Evan Dunsky (“Rectify”), John Romano (“Third Watch”) and Doug Jung (HBO’s “Big Love”). Directors this season include Greg Yaitanes, Ole Christian Madsen (“Edderkoppen,” “Flame and Citron”), Babak Najafi (“Easy Money 2”) and Loni Peristere (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”).

BANSHEE recently received a Primetime Emmy® Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Supporting Role.

The first season, which began in Jan. 2013, inspired critical raves, with the Hollywood Reporter calling it “taut, entertaining and smart,” and the Wall Street Journal describing the show as “enticing” and “indisputably satisfying.”

Hashtag nonsense. Did season 1 have the hashtag as well? I don't think it did but I honestly don't remember. HBO & Cinemax are doing a free preview weekend this week, hopefully the hashtag goes away next week. Maybe they're doing it as a promotional/hype thing rolleyes.gif

As side from being disappointment in Cinemax with the Hashtag, I enjoyed tonight's episode. Looking forward to where this is going smile.gif

A premium channel that promotes like this during a free weekend just turns me off...it shows they will devalue the premium service and ruin the premium service. I just turned it off and will wait later to watch it with a 100% clean screen. If it's not part of the movie or show, I don't want to see it!

I am almost positive that hash tags were not used at all during season one. They didn't bother me all that much but the notion that viewers would want to chat with the cast instead of giving their full attention to the show does.

Overall the episode was pretty good, not great. I thought Jim Racine would be more menacing than he was and what was up with that whole closed door hearing where he gets to be the judge, jury, and hands down sentencing too?

O. T. O. H. The new theater seating rocked!

Yeah, i thought the episode was good, not great as well. We are at a different place with Banshee now, so there isn't that element we had in season one. Thought the episode dragged a bit, and the heist was simply ridiculous. The writers missed the mark on this one. I can leave my brain at the door in most instances, but just so implausible, it took me out of it.

I really hope it turns around, got a bit nervous, thinking Banshee might lose that touch from the first season. We'll see. ....

Forgot about the heist, all that served to do was to give Sugar and the other guy some screen time and to reestablish the fact that they are criminals.
Simply absurd describes that scene perfectly.

Yeah I failed to mention that only because I was typing on my phone at the time!

There's not much action in Banshee as far as armored trucks go and if they keep hitting the casino truck the guards are going to get wise pretty quickly. I think Nola is already on to them biggrin.gif

mylan,
Glad you enjoyed your new seating biggrin.gif

Some people say this episode was slow/boring because they had to re-introduce the storyline from last season. They also wanted most of the characters to get face-time. The season opener was more of a "recap" per se. I don't know. Sorta agree with C*Tedesco, we might not have the famed season 1 anymore.

People are posting .gifs of the episode, and the stupid hashtag is included in the gifs

Considering the entire premise of the show is absurd and it doesn't care, I'd say it was
no more or less par for the series.

They're still re-stocking Blood, Bullets & Bandages from last season's war zone.

The most interesting thing was the fantastic "Smoking Man" agent, hell bent on
snagging Rabbit. Casting Ivanek in the part was perfect. Who doesn't see the humor in firing up
a smoke everywhere? An old gag perhaps, but a Church? wink.gif

Agreed. Sometime we just gotta have fun and remember that nothing is factual or can actually happen in real life. But.. I do understand the gripe about it. At least make it seem "some" realistic.

Yeah, the smoking agent was an interesting guy. A little creepy.

No less realistic than last season's "Out Of Nowhere" theft when Carrie and Job assist Lucas at
the last minute & only a short trip down the road from Banshee. No repercussion SOP.

Let's face it, the show is full of Super Humans that heal faster than Thor, and have Ultra Secret agent skills,
can fight like Navy Seals and magically have weapons to match in the right moment. All this set in a quiet sleepy
town where the locals seem to never be included in the story and yet live right in the center of all the mayhem.

Let's not forget the new Sheriff has perforated half of the female population in between being beaten half to death
every few days since he arrived. Alan Ball used this "Warehouse O' Viagra" trick in the first few seasons of True Blood.
He's also cheating again with the obvious "Way Too Hot" female cast. Sorry, but they don't hang out in those places and
we all know it. We also hope it keeps going, which is the entire point.

Season one's wow factor will be a tough act to follow.

So ridiculous! They even had a full-screen promo credit for the Banshee Twitter information! Why not leave it at that? The whole screen was filled with Twitter information! We don't need a hashtag at the bottom of the screen for 50 minutes!

I think much of the magic of Banshee is attributable to its in your face outrageousness. Strike Back has made a living doing the same sort of stuff. I am a little ashamed of myself but I enjoy that sort of thing when it is done as well as it is on Banshee. smile.gif

Love the show but insertion of the heist scene was clumsy script writing and the hashtag was annoying and a low-rent thing for Cinemax. Like watching TNT or something.

The Thunder Women! (excluding a classic Skinamax opening scene) Nice edit when our new favorite Squaw takes out the Soldiers “Batman Style” like a super hero from a dark corner.

Without saying it, I think Kai knows Hood is running scores at this point, but would rather
see how it plays in his favor. I don’t think he’s on to the other Hood secret just yet.

Comedy Moment! Sugar makes a comment like he might forget Job’s a guy for a second. I’m still trying to figure out where the clothes come from. Guess he shops out of town. When do the Amish get to meet this guy in full dress? Should be like Close Encounters for them wink.gif
