Every piece of RF gear is checked before it is permitted into a NFL game. The NFL has a program called the Game Day Coordinator (GDC). They check everything. There must be nearly 2000 different channels in use at the Super Bowl. At the Republican and Democratic Political Conventions there was about 2,000 different types of radios in use.

IF there was interference there then there was interference at the end of the Falcon's/49'ers game too....

I tend top agree with others, the ball was uncatchable anyways.

They both were making contact, but minor contact. It was the kind of call you can’t make at that point of the game, especially when he would have been lucky to get one foot in bounds. It was a good no call.

The replay clearly showed he was being held by his jersey, meaning he couldn't get to a spot where the ball could be caught (if it was indeed "catchable").

It is also important to remember referees (or umpires or whatever) don't like to decide championships with their calls.
This is why in the later part of games there is a "let 'em play" approach by the "arbitrators."

i'm fine with the no-call, but just be consistent refs.

giving the ravens a 1st down on a 3rd and nine play in the 4th qurter with the same amount of interference won the game for the raves.

That pass was uncatchable; Kap threw it off his back foot and it was too long. So, even though I was pulling for the 49ers, I was okay with the non-call. No referee is going to make that call in that situation. And they shouldn't.

raves don't get that 2nd field goal without the p.a. against niners.

that was margin of victory. don't call either interference and i'm good with whatever results.

Catches, yards, touchdowns, and penalties in the first 30 seconds of the game are just as important as the last 30 seconds. By "not deciding the outcome of the game" they allow one team to have an unfair, illegal advantage and decided the outcome of the game. I've always hated this argument in sports. Basketball and hockey officials do the same crap.

Exactly.
The game is played over a period of 60 minutes.

If we look at this SB, for example, it's important to note the score PPO (Pre Power Outage) was 28-6 in favor of the Ravens.
At that point, it was easy to assume the game would be a Raven blow-out.
However, as someone who has watched every SB ever played, I knew it was far from over.
Super Bowl's are rarely "blow-outs."wink.gif

Disappointed in the Niners loss but congrats to the Ravens for holding on for the win in that crazy second half. As far as the no-call goes if that had been the only one in that series I'd say ok but the 2nd down play looked like interference and Walker was held at the goal line( the ball wasn't going to him but still holding) during the fourth down call. They also didn't call holding during the saftey and that allowed 5 to 6 seconds to be burned off the clock instead of the penalty and safety being called almost immediateyl. All in all though a crazy game. Kaepernick will certainly learn from all of his errors and should have a great season next year. Will be pretty hard to get back to the SB two years in a row given the tough teams in the NFC but you never know.

You have 59:30 to overcome those, which every team has done.

What you are reading is a bunch of fans making comments as we see them. We aren’t being evaluated after every game and our careers aren’t on the line like those officials. You would never get an official to say they couldn’t or wouldn’t make a call at any point in the game unless they didn’t see the play, which happens, we’ve all seen it. Judgment calls happen throughout a game – its part of the human element - it’s the one at the end that gets the most attention. IMO, they made the right call – a no-call. Most people agree.

whatever, give me about 48 hours post-game to exorcise my emotions, and i can work through whatever the refs did.

bottom line is the niners got down 22 points and that is a tough hole to dig out of

Agreed.
S.F. needed more than 3 touchdowns to comback from that deficit.

"Uncatchable" only matters for passing interference.

The issue here is Holding within 5 yards - doesn't matter if the ball was even thrown.

It's obvious and an affront to the game that NFL refs suddenly start making calls by a different than NFL rulebook template in the SB. Within the standard rules, both players could have been flagged and the down replayed.

I haven't seen much talk about what appeared to be a helmet to helmet hit on 3rd down. Why was this much touted player safety related PF penalty not called? Didn't save the game so I could re-play it to analyze further.

There were many, many calls that were not made all game long. The referees obviously had a let them play attitude unless it is very blatant. That is pretty common for a Super Bowl......

Once the QB leaves the pocket, the rules for hitting them are relaxed. A HDTV shows that he even still had a foot in bounds as he was hit.

Anybody on the helmet to helmet PF on 3rd down?
