I'm hoping that the commercial that has been airing is correct and that new episodes are airing at 9pm Eastern time (not 10pm Eastern time, as the website says). Since 2.5 million people saw the S2 promo during the Doctor Who Christmas special, one would think it would have given the correct time (if not, someone at BBC America is in trouble!).
I checked today and confirmed that my TiVo's season pass for Ripper Street is still in effect so I won't care when the Season 2 premiere runs so long as my TiVo does its thing and records it.
This show is good, but it has its faults. OTOH, I am glad it was picked up by Amazon since I enjoy watching Jerome Flynn as much here as on Game of Thrones.
Jerome Flynn is a fine actor. His performances as the tortured Detective Inspector Bennet Drake, are a joy to watch, almost as much fun to watch as his performances on Game of Thrones as Tyrion's tough guy henchman, Bronn. If Bennet had a sense of humor to go along with his thugier side, as Bronn does, he would be a much happier camper. More seriously, I like Ripper Street a lot. Matthew Macfadyen is also a fine actor, as is just about everybody else in the show's large ensemble cast.
For those of us watching on DirecTV, is Season 2 "over"? Noticed on my DVR that the original air dates were December and checking on IMDB seemed to show the episode that aired 2 Saturday's ago as the last one for this season.
Just want to confirm that this season has ended until Amazon starts airing new ones.
The Ripper Street S2 finale aired on April 12 on BBC America.
Keep in mind that while BBC One cancelled Ripper Street, BBC America did not, and is co-producing S3 with Amazon. From the articles I read, S3 will definitely premiere on Amazon in the UK before it possibly airs on UK television. However, in the United States, that might not be the case. My guess is that S3 premieres on BBC America first, then Amazon soon after (possibly even within a week of the TV broadcast).
