Didn't I see somewhere that S4 was supposed to start on Prime today? It's not there yet AFAICS...

Correct. It was widely reported that Ripper Street Series 4 was to be put up on Amazon Prime on January 15. Alas, it hasn't happened yet. Series 1-3 are now available on Netflix but, despite spending time trying today, I haven't found a word of explaining what has become of Series 4. If anybody has an idea what is going on, I would be grateful for an explanation.

What happened to Thursday's episode? I just went to edit it and BBC aired a movie. It was listed on ZAP2IT as of Sunday 8/7, and ZAP2IT is still listing the following ep for next Thursday.

The lost ep is S04E03 Some Conscience Lost (counting the 2-part Stranger's Home as E01 and E02 - epguides counts them as 1). The BBCA site shows it as ready to play, but it's not actually set up to play as far as I can see. It's also not on TWC OD yet - BBCA shows usually appear within a day.

I'm hoping they skipped a week at the last minute - Olympics maybe, and just haven't updated ZAP2IT yet?

I got a recording of it but it was titled wrong on the site as next week's "White World Made Red". I think the other eps titles may also be scrambled. Fortunately RS is one of the few shows these days that displays a title after the opening credits...

I also recorded the first 2 eps, and comparing to my MKV's from the original broadcasts, all the ones from the website seem to be chopping off the last 3-4 minutes. FWIW though the first 2 don't have any ads - also some kind of mistake I presume...

Thanks - I guess I can't count on a delayed broadcast then. I'll try recording off the website again and if still incomplete hope TWC eventually gets it in OD...

I have D*, and my DVR correctly recorded it but it was on at 6 PM instead of 10. I haven't watched it all yet, but I did watch the first few minutes, and it does appear to be the third episode. BTW, my DVR shows it is set to record at 6 PM this Thursday as well.

That explains it then. I see that the next 2 have also been moved to 6PM - I think BBCA did the same thing with Thirteen when it was on...

I am loving what I've seen so far. Just wish I didn't have to wait so long for this season and that it wasn't going to be so short. Now if only Netflix could get licensing rights for Murdoch Mysteries beyond season 7. Don't feel like paying for the Acorn Subscription add-on to Amazon Prime for just 1 show.

It all depends on the software in the DVR and the accuracy of the the Cable provider in preparing their guide channel layout. On my DVR I have it set for first run episodes so as long as the guide layout properly identifies the "new" episodes my DVR will pick it up and record it. The problem is last minute changes to programming because of political crap that overran its time slot or breaking news.

I have to set up recordings manually using TitanTV which is sloppier than ZAP2IT which also isn't perfect but useful to double-check when something looks hinky on TitanTV. I've reset it for 6PM now...

Good luck - BBCA hasn't been repeating much lately the way they used to. Unless it's Star Trek or Dr. Who.

I thought Amazon was funding it - maybe now that it's over it will be on Prime?

BBCA is listing new episodes Wednesdays 11PM, which seems like an odd time. They've burned me with last minute schedule changes a few times so I hope they stick to it. Once again no repeat airings...

Thanks for posting this, I would have totally missed it. Any idea why no repeats? Seems BBCA repeats everything else multiple times

Yeah, despite all the unhappiness that befell him there, it looked as if Edmond Reid was doomed to forever stay in H Division and Whitechapel after all of his friends were dead or gone. Reid's fate reminded me of the legendary Flying Dutchman, which was doomed to stay at sea for eternity. As sad as it was, I thought the series finale was appropriate, given the melancholy tale the show told.

I thought it was pretty good the way they tied everything up early and left half the episode to spend on Reid's penance.

I was a little disturbed that the daughter risked everything to save him, then waltzed out of his life like some corny Australian folk song...

Reid wanted his daughter away from Whitechapel. She knew that she and her husband should leave too. Her first duty was to her husband and child and she thought the best way to fulfill it was in Australia. At least it seems so to me.
