Next week from today will be the selection show on cbs and espn. Brackets will be filled and millions of people will follow 64 teams transform into one champion for that one shining moment. Hopefully fios carries cbs sports network in hd.
I've got to hand it to CBS. Except for lighting differences at each of the gyms where the games are played, what a uniform, consistent and well produced product they are putting out over four networks. Nice job folks
[EDIT: After watching for a few hours, I will say the TNT center channel announcers sound a little thin and hollow compared the rest of the games. Still, quite a feat.]
When the turner deal was announced in 2011, trutv was also included. Both TNT and TBS have shown sports before, but not the network f/k/a CourtTV, whose live events were that of court hearings. Most people who live in rural areas can't get trutv in hd or wonder where the channel is. Hopefully in the future most cable providers will have Trutv in hd, just like how NBC's olympic coverage has every major network in HD including two special sport channels that show the games without commercial interupption (mostly for us games).
Mountain West performs so lousy in the tourney each and every year, 6-29 against power conference teams. They've already lost to an 11, 12, and 14 seed and we haven't even got to Friday's games.
Yet they continue to game the horridly flawed RPI metric and get over-represented and over seeded in the tourney. Teams like Virginia (11-7 ACC and win @Wisconsin) get left out for teams like Boise State (9-7 MWC). A sham of a process.
The First 4 round of games on Tues/Wed was unwatchable because of the charity bids to undeserving midmajor teams. I really enjoy Cinderella runs, but they've gone overboard and are jobbing better teams with better resumes in an era on political correctness.
