only 2 pages of posts for this excellent show??...Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore are fantastic as Norma and Norman...the atmosphere and 'Psycho' mythology are first rate...last week's premiere seemed more like a table-setter for the upcoming season

was that Bates Motel: After Hours show a one time deal?...I don't see it in my Guide listing this week?

Unfortunately, very few episodes. They just started back up a week or so ago. frown.gif

Vera is hot. Nice change from the typical 20 year olds.

Abundant OTA television is what makes this country different from all others. Lets keep it this way. If you like Wi-Fi so much, OTA fits right in. After all, it is wireless.

the first 6 episodes this season have been a mixed bag...so many new characters and storylines that I'm hoping will all payoff by the finale...whenever the show moves away from Norman and Norma and focuses on Dylan and his drug buddies or the bypass or Cody etc the show suffers...the only constant is the fantastic performances by Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore...Bates Motel is probably always going to be uneven and disjointed and occasionally forced, but the two lead roles are so strongly conceived that even at the show’s worst, there’s always something to enjoy

There is some jumping around and abrupt story line changes, but this isn't the only 'series' that does it. Scandal does it also. The next episode, events have happened with little telling the viewer when they did.

Anyway, Vera is hot. Since to see actors that are over 35 for a change instead of the usual teenyboppers. wink.gif

Just finished season 2 and agree that it was all over the place. Too many new characters and story lines. Like, WTF happened to Emma's pot-dealing BF that was staying at the Bates after she jumped in the quarry basin?!? He just disappeared, but they devoted half an hour developing the character. For what?

That said, I'm keeping it in the queue, and am looking forward to next season.

Season 3 has started and no comments? I can't possibly be the only one that watched it?

Believe it was Monday night, not sure since I watched it via Amazon streaming.

Does A&E do repeats through the week like other channels do?

Excellent episode by the way.

I agree and that was an excellent surprise little cliffhanger at the end of the episode.

Also available at A&E's web site as well as Hulu. The Oedipus theme continues and revs up a notch.

A&E orders two more seasons of Bates Motel
By Samantha Highfill, EW.com - Jun. 15, 2015

The Bates Motel isn’t shutting down anytime soon.

After season 3’s shocking conclusion, A&E has picked up Bates Motel for two more seasons. Specifically, the network has ordered 20 more episodes of the drama starring Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga as Norman and Norma Bates.

“The vision of our incredible creative team has exposed the steady breakdown of the relationship between Norman and Norma Bates,” A&E executive vice president and general manager Rob Sharenow said in a press release. “We are thrilled to bring fans two more seasons to witness the next stages of Norman’s transformation into the most notorious psychopath in cinematic history.”

New episodes of Bates Motel are set to begin production later this year, with the show set to return in 2016.

it was always envisioned as a 5 season show so I'm glad the showrunners will be able to complete their story...acting is phenomenal on this show, especially Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore...storylines are hit and miss but the acting of the main leads makes up for it

I sure hope the show does not get axed. I enjoy watching it and hate it when it when shows get axed without a conclusion.

The show was planned for five seasons. The network has just officially renewed it through Season 5. You're good.

It's too bad there is such a long period between 'seasons'.
