Two incidents for the 88. Too bad, so sad. NOT! Nice to see his own teammate screw him over, putting him 2 laps down. Rough day for my Roush guys, but Johnson did dominate the race and deserved the win. Too bad Cryle Busch got a top 5 by .006 of a second. On to Texas...

This is a great week to be a JGR fan. biggrin.gif Denny has been sidelined for weeks, Cryle crashes and best of all Kenseth docked 50 points and Ratcliff gets a 6 race suspension and $200,000 fine.

That was some crash near the end, when I saw that car fly I thought it would be some serious stuff..

I still don't understand, isn't it an "official" race when it passes the middle point? Anyone thinks this race should have been over at lap 125 when the rain came?

Anyway I watched a whole movie, came back and they haven't restarted yet, I also guess FOX didn't have anything else to air.

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

They did air the 2013 Daytona 500 during the Rain Delay but ya i guess they didn't really have anything else to air in it's place. I've been watching NASCAR since 1995 and they would usually postpone a race around the halfway mark but i guess NASCAR or Fox made the decision to stick with the 8 hours or more of race coverage and rake in the money than the safety of the drivers and the track's weather conditions which i feel has been deteriorating for years. Finally i do agree with Ryan Newman, it is poor judgement by NASCAR and Talledega officials by keeping the race going. After hearing his interview on FOX this quote really caught my ears "They can build safer race cars, they can build safer walls, but they can't get their heads out of their *expletive* as far enough to keep them on the race track."

That was nothing more than an over emotional statement made by someone who had a less than favorable result and is sulking. Had Newman not been involved in the wreck at the end you wouldn’t have heard a peep from him on the subject. Same situation last year after Widdle Earnhardt got his booboo that took him out for a few races during the Chase. He opened up his big yap and cried on camera and said something to the effect ‘if that’s the way NASCAR wants to race perhaps we shouldn’t race at Daytona or Talladega anymore’. If he feels so strongly about those tracks maybe he should not only protest by not racing at those tracks, but also make a formal request to NASCAR to redact or invalidate his wins at those two tracks. It’s just sour grapes because these guys didn’t get their way in their respective situations. I for one am glad they ran the whole race at Dega. Very nice to see a small team like Front Row Racing have success, finishing one-two. For the first time ever I was rooting against Roush Fenway Racing. While I wish many wins upon Edwards, I was screaming at the TV for Ragan to hold on and for Gilliland to get to the line before Carl.

How can you say that was an over-emotional statement? Safety should be paramount. Perhaps you would like to go back to the days when the top of Gordon Smiley's head went rolling across the Indy 500 track or when Dale Senior got killed because he didn't have a Hans Device. Perhaps you should be the one to get your head out of your posterior also.

Yep. I hate most of the drivers with a deep passion and only got back into NASCAR to watch them crash and burn. I’m a Ford guy, grew up cheering on Robert Yates teams going back to Davey Allison, so it only makes sense I favor the Roush drivers. As a football coach I always thought Joe Gibbs was a snake, so that why I hate JGR, and Kenseth being a traitor, I wish him nothing but failures in his future. The Busch brothers each disgust me in their own ways. I really miss Inside NASCAR on Showtime. I would literately be on the floor laughing when they played audio for the Busch brats or Tony Stewart. There were some points I almost wanted to send these guys a box of Kleenex. That was comedic gold right there with all their yelling and swearing. And if it wasn’t for his riding his daddy’s coattails Little Earnhardt would be as recognizable as Derrick Cope, Lake Speed or Travis Kvapil and he gets on TV with his smug look like he has a right to be worshiped, when the guy hasn’t done anything in the sport he’s been in for the past 12 years or so now. I used to hate Jeff Gordon , he doesn't bother me as much anymore. I’m not a Johnson fan, I know a lot of people are fed up with him because of his success, but stuff like that doesn’t bother me. He’s a very talented drivers with an even more talented crew and while I don’t like him, he deserves success.

If NASCAR was at all concerned about safety they should ban a few drivers who are hazards to themselves and other around them like Danica Patrick, who brings absolutely nothing to the table. They should also ban the hotheaded crybabies who act irrational like the Busch brats and Stewart. Seeing Stewie throw his helmet at Kenseth’s hood last year still makes me laugh.

NASCAR absolutely 1000% made the correct call to continue the race. Like I said above, had Busch Brat #1 not landed on Newman’s hood, he wouldn’t have said a peep.

I really miss Alan Kulwicki, Davey Allison, Ricky Rudd, Harry Gant. Those guys were never crybabies like Newman or his owner.

LOL You’re not the first one to tell me that

Hey I’m just being honest. Quite a few people pretend to be NASCAR fans just to watch and see the crashes. I wanna see tons of wrecks too, it’s just I want them to involve certain drivers. Due to all the crybabies that have invaded the sport, I could never be as hardcore into NASCAR as I once was, but like I said I watch mainly for the wrecks.

Big thumbs up for NASCAR and FOX for screwing the race, and harming some of the race cars. rolleyes.gif

Shouldn't FOX be fined for this mess?

Love him or hate him, ya gotta feel for Kyle. Like I said before, the glory days of NASCAR race announcing (and quality coverage) are long over. Dale Sr's probably turning over in his grave. mad.gif

It was also just announced that 10 people in the grandstands were injured, 3 sent to the hospital.

No, ya don't! Too bad NASCAR let him fix the car. The brat should have been done at that point. But it looks like he's done now! Both him and Baby Earnhardt are done! YES! The remainder of the race will be a lot more enjoyable now. It's a beautiful night in Charlotte, just need Danica to crash and burn and the trifecta will be complete.

What was that, about 20% of the crowd? I thought the stands were embarassingly empty for one of NASCAR's premiere races.

Believe it or not, this race used to sell out. NASCAR ain't what it used to be.
