I don't know- the show is so tedious/formulaic now it's not fully any longer.

New baddie shows up (won't get into how ridiculous that is being the town is sealed off via an impenetrable dome).
New baddie threatens town.
Crisis threatens existence of Chesters Mill and it's misbegotten denizens.
Much drama ensues as the town polarizes to one side or the other.
Baddie situation resolves- some collateral loss- but the main character survive to drama on another day.
New baddie shows up...

^ Lather- rinse- repeat!
Why do so many people have problems with new characters introduced? In a town of nearly 2,000 people we have seen a few dozen so far, there are over a thousand people we haven't seen yet. You find it hard to believe there can be someone new? She wasn't suddenly bad, they talked about how they have been working together to get everyone into the cocoons.

They had a good explanation for Christine and Eva not showing up until now. Better than Natalie Zea - even though it was only the first few days you'd think either Barbie or BJ would have been aware of her presence...

There aren't 2,000 people under the dome. A big chunk of the populace (including all the firefighters, most of the cops and city counselors, etc.) left city lines to go watch or be in the parade in the next town over, or were just out of town for other convenient reasons. Of those who got trapped, Big Jim has seemingly killed about half of them.

The impression I get is that the group of people who followed Barbie into the caves and got trapped in the Butterfly Goo Matrix are supposed to be all that's left. Being generous, it looks like maybe 100 people.

Agreed, also remember that family members and friends were also separated by the dome, so many of the townspeople are already out of the dome. That and like you said, many people already getting killed off in this series so yeah, it shouldn't make any sense that characters keep popping up out of the woodwork when convenient. Keep in mind that in only 3 weeks, Chesters Mill has been through disaster after disaster.

I will watch the series finale if it exists. Maybe the writers should start thinking about it now! Did they finish filming S3?

I assume this show has veered way off the books path. Just for shoots and giggles can someone who has read the book tell me how it ends? PM or use spoiler tags. I'm curious. Thanks.

Good question. Not sure if S3 is wrapped up or not. I don't see this getting a S4. They should be working on a series finale. Maybe have Big Jim eating lunch with Walter White and saying he had this crazy dream about a dome covering a small town.

As a good Husband, I have dutifully abided by my Better Halves continued viewing .. although I have been so, so tempted to re-orient myself to the Home Theater room and, if nothing else, watch a continuous loop of commercials or Cat Videos on YouTube ..

I won't get into the book, but I will say that Jon Snow is in fact, dead .. .. seriously, the book is a good read, it is very much substantially better than the show, it is quite dark and get's very "intense" to say the least .. the show has diverged from the book so far, about all that's shared is a Dome .. even the characters have been changed to protect the innocent ..

I'm not sure why people laud the book so highly. It sounds like a huge waste of time to me to slog through the whole thing only to get that nihilistic ending. The show may be terrible, but it's not like the source material was golden, either.

If I remember correctly, the ending was the thing that got the critical slap .. the journey to get there was actually a pretty good read, although somewhat bloated ..

Arch did nail the ending ..

There has to be more than 100 left inside. The fight club for food and resources had at least that many involved as cheering onlookers...

I also dropped the show after the two hour return. After fast forwarding thru the ads, then deleting, the next day I realized, I couldn't recall much that happened. The worst thing to happen to bad TV is the tablet PC. I had the blasted thing in my hand the entire 90 minutes, and spent the entire show surfing the web between fast forwarding.

Stephen King is notorious for a great start, good build-up, then let-down ending. A lot of his stories are flawed in this way... so this is one of those situations where Under the Dome probably couldn't end too much worse than the book... but it has been trying its best to suck more in the middle than probably the book did.

That is just incorrect and there has been nothing to say or show that is the case. That is like saying maybe some of them went to a picnic or on vacation. Big Jim didn't kill half the people, very few have died. They even said the people that followed Barbie wasn't everyone but everyone they could find/notify. The town is spread-out and rather large, thus why there are cabins in the wood/on the lake, etc. There are a lot of people they haven't show yet throughout the town.

But there is something to show that's the case - the fact that almost every town official and employee was away. Why is it unreasonable to think a similar proportion of the general population was away?

Yeah about 1800 peeps were outside the town when the dome came by, say about 100 were killed already, that leaves about 76 total inhabitants by now.. (or at freakin' least don't flash us the town sign with the population in there like 5-6 times an episode)

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

It depends, the show has been getting worse and worse so who knows how it'll end up if it ever does at this point. It's been sucking all around, if the book is somehow worse, I'd like to know because the show is already completely awful right now.
