An excerpt from the press release:

"CBS promises that "many questions about its origin and power will be answered, as two groups of residents engage in one final conflict that some won’t survive." Earlier this month, CBS confirmed the finale was written as a potential ending to the series."

It will probably be a weak and/or lame ending!

Well, nothing could really be lamer than the book ending. So that means there is something for you guys to look forward to. Maybe the ending will actually improve on the book!

I think one way to end it would be that the aliens that Christine is warning them that they need the Kindred to fight are the Espheni. So, the dome comes down and it just rolls into the beginning of Falling Skies.

They didn't know; they're just trying to put some positive spin on the season finale and the plots it closes in the hope that people will ignore the new plots it opens and leaves unresolved. They were waiting to see if the ratings warranted yet another season, and they didn't, so we'll never get to see the alien invasion planned for season 4. (Now, now, don't lose too much sleep over it! That deep sense of relief loss that you feel will abate with time. )

I agree. The ending to Stephen King's novel, Under the Dome, was weak. Fortunately, much of his work since has been a whole lot better. Just finished a terrific sequel to Mr. Mercedes (2014), Finders Keepers (2015), which was terrific. That said, Under the Dome was a masterpiece compared to the silly TV series.

CBS should take all of Tim's TV.com reviews and compile them into a guidebook to include with the season 1-3 DVD/Blu-ray box set. It would almost be worth rewatching the silliness if you could conveniently enjoy his running commentary as you went along (almost!).

The Dome wanted it to end... the bad news is this means my excuse to stop watching went away and now I feel compelled to watch the DVRed episodes from the last 6 weeks... I was so hoping it would be renewed so I could delete them!

Clearly the Dome wanted you to watch, so it forced your hand by not coming back.

I gave up on The Dome after unsuccessfully trying to get through the terrible first episode this season.
That being said.. I haven't missed it, but... I will watch the finale'. Hopefully there will be some closure for us lost souls?

I am really glad it is ending. I have watched it from the beginning and it has gotten worse season after season. I only watch it because I have so much time invested that I have to see the end. I sure hopr "Zoo" does not get renewed.

After slumming in the Dome for 3 seasons, he'd probably do it for free. No, he'd pay them for a chance to play Hank again.

Talk about going from the sublime to the ridiculous.

I think being one of the lead actors on UtD appealed to him...with Breaking Bad he was always more of a Supporting character...I remember reading an article where he asked Vince Gilligan to write him out of Breaking Bad during the early years because he wanted a bigger role

No! I want Dean Norris to be cast in a role where he is continually demeaned and pushed around. He has to do his penance.

Only 1 episode to go, so it can't get much dumber. Somehow, as the oxygen was running out, I kept looking at all the trees in the woods and all that grass and thinking "don't plants make oxygen?"

It's also the increase of carbon dioxide that causes problems.

It would be nice if there was something that could take carbon dioxide and, say, water, take energy in the form of sunlight, and convert the carbon dioxide and water to oxygen, sugars, starches, and oils. That would reduce the carbon dioxide level and increase the oxygen level.

Oh wait, plants do that! Something called photosynthesis.

However, if the calcification of the dome blocks the sun, photosynthesis would stop (the "photo" of "photosynthesis" being "light"; no light means no energy to drive photosynthesis).

When I saw the old people walking into the lake, I wondered if the Queen realized that decomposing bodies would produce carbon dioxide and something done to prevent the release of products of decomposition could conserve oxygen a bit longer.

My very humble setup:
Spoiler!

All they had to do was buy some "carbon credits" and everything would be OK.

OK, folks, we have one episode of Under the Dome remaining! I therefore issue a challenge to all of you who have fallen away from the flock:

Watch the final episode.

Yes, even if you wisely foolishly quit watching after finding out that there was going to be a second season, shouldn't you come back to find out just how much worse better life has gotten Under the Dome since then? Don't you want to truly appreciate Tim's final episode review after having witnessed the horror glory of the finale with your own eyes? Of course you do! I'm not talking about speed-watching, either! I'm talking about watching the whole thing at 1x from start to finish. Be honest, would you really have stopped watching if Under the Dome had been more like this since the start of season 2?

Spoiler!

Of course you wouldn't have! You'd have been glued to your seat out of slumber excitement! The final day of the Chester's Mill saga is upon us, folks. Don't miss it!

It was actually this current season that made me decide to give up on it were there to be a season four. Stupid + funny = entertaining. Stupid + 0 = this season.

My dirty little secret is I never actually deleted the series pass. Been deleting them one by one except for this week's.

So I'll be watching the second-to-last and last. Just because I love you guys and don't want you to have to go through this alone.

I actually did delete my season pass sometime during Season 2 but I am accepting the challenge and will watch the series finale. It's the least I can do in return for the fun I have had with this thread.

I was thinking about watching the finale too, but it could be a devious plan. If everyone starts rewatching to see how this dome-shaped trainwreck ends the ratings could jump and CBS might bring it back.

The show might have sold off some of the props and sets already, but thanks to the magic of cocoon juice the reveal might be that the entire season so far is actually taking place in the mind of that dog which was introduced this season.

It's a trap I tell ya!

Just put a paper bag over your recorder's face - cut out a scream-shaped hole for the IR sensor...
