Yes, it looks like the events of Winter Solderer went the opposite direction or something. The Triskelion building is still standing, http://marvelcinematicuniverse.wikia...iki/Triskelion, and there is a Hydra logo on it.

Like many sci-fi/fantasy shows SHIELD is gulity of having writers that don't pay attention to their own canon. One episode could introduce some kind of genius gadget to solve the plot and then it is instantly forgotten about the next week.

Over the course of the show Fitz and Simmons have created or encountered multiple gadgets that would help detect LMDs, but lazy TV tropes mean that once you've pulled something out of the bag of plot tricks you can never use it again.

So in addition to all the EMP weapons lying around the base they never bothered to try, they also have multiple detectors like this goofy pair of glasses that should eaily be able to detect a metal endoskeleton, connected by wireless comms and powered by a portable reactor!

Why not whip up a quick electromagnetic pulser? Wouldn't that shut down pretty much any robot?

Both movies are B sci-fi movies. I most recently caught Futureworld on the El Rey Network last January, and The Creation of the Humanoids on AMC a little over two years ago. Neither movie gets much play, so it would be understandable if you haven't come across them.

Since there was mention of the Red Shirts, in Star Trek (the original series), Season 1, Episode 7, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0708486/ is "What Are Little Girls Made Of?", where Dr. Roger Korby has had robots constructed and one of them is to be the replacement of Captain James T. Kirk, and presumably that's the first step in his plan for galactic conquest. However, that probably doesn't count since the intent doesn't seem to replace all humans in that episode.

My very humble setup:

This show has really fallen down the rabbit hole and I hope they find their way back from Wonderland before the season is over. I'd hate for this show to be like "How I Met Your Mother" and ruin my entire memory of the series with the last episode.

I don't understand why they have a cliffhanger now. They had a winter hiatus, came back in the new year for what, 3 or 4 episodes and then another hiatus?

Probably to coincide with sweeps. Which this year is April 27 – May 24, 2017.

Ratings are pretty bad all around so SHIELD is a known IP they can put in the schedule if they have nothing else with any traction. ABC may also be using the ratings for the final episodes to see if they can justify another season.

So I finally got caught up by binge watching pretty much all the episodes in this season in the past few days. The plot seems highly repetitive for the past several seasons. They have a season or half season arc with some big villain who strangely doesn't attract any attention from a larger MCU player that almost takes out Shield, rinse and repeat. Sure the details are different, but it's always the same basic thing. Someone in the gov't is always after Shield. The bad guys get every lucky break (up until the very end when they don't). And their "secret" base always get infiltrated... I would think they could spice things up a bit and come with something that doesn't rhyme as much with the previous season.

I think I liked the first season better where there was a bit less big plot arc and more episodic mission.

That's why I thought the Ghost Rider story was the best thing the show has done in a very long time. Take away the magical book macguffin and plot to destroy a city with an energy box thing and it was just a story of revenge featuring a character the show has never seen before.

Me too. There was kind of a scooby dooby gang quality, investigating odd phenomenon without it necessarily being part of some large-scale threat to the planet. Kind of junior scout missions compared to the stuff the Avengers dealt with.

But they had to raise the ante for whatever reason. Ratings weren't spectacular so maybe they had to show what was going on was very important, super villainy stuff. And make one of the cast member have special powers.

The first season was problematic because they had to wait for the Capt America Winter Soldier to finally let loose the plot.

Might as well cancel this show.
Let the Netflix ones reign

They are superior and worthy of the MCU.

AoS was never really that good.
