Today's bump day btw.[broadcast starts at 12pm et on the NBC Sports Network]

If a movie or concert video or a TV show isn't on blu ray it darn well should be.

Sadly there wasn't anyone to bump and therefore no drama this year, with only 33 cars qualified in the field. Jourdain had no shot and didn't even try.

The race is a pale imitation of what it used to be before the split but all you have to say is 225+ mph and I'll watch.

Yeah I remember way back when Jourdain actually was a front runner, even since Champ Car dissapeared so did he, too bad.

What an absolutely great race! Today just proved once again why the Indianapolis 500 is still the best race and the largest one-day sporting event in the world.

I actually enjoyed the race better than the Nascar race, which was a surprise. I really got sick of hearing how many passes for the lead there were. It was totally artificial. All drafting and no braking.

NASCAR needs to do something about all of the empty seats. Indianapolis was nearly full, while Charlotte had probably at least 30% of its seats unoccupied, if not more. Yes, I realize that the Indy 500 is still a big deal for one day, but the overall trend at NASCAR is "watch it on TV and don't bother going."

I was laughing at the NASCAR race of how quickly the leader lapped cars, I think only 15 or less finished in the lead lap, simple math: lots of cars, short track, few yellows = very few cars on lead lap.

I thought I saw quite a few empty seats at Indy. I think creative editing made it look fuller than it was. That is beside the point though as Nascar will still hold an audience next week and Indycar will be back to less of an audience than late night infomercials.

What is your point? Some of the top cars were taken out. I think before that there were around 26 cars on the lead lap.

To expand on what I said earlier, what is the skill level to hold the pedal down and not lift all the way around the track? I would rather see a car do 250 down the straight and have to brake to 190 in the corners than do 225 all the way around the track.

Except for the finish. IndyCar *really* needs to take a page from NASCAR and implement green/white/checker. I heard some other complaints about this and think it's way past time for a race of this magnitude to go for a green finish. If they want to limit it to just ovals that's fine with me, but it should be done for the fans. Finishing under caution is no way to end the Indy 500.

I am glad that TK won btw, just think he should have had to race for it to the end.

There was a big article in today's Indianapolis Star and the green/white/checker will definitely be considered for future races.

I sincerely hope not. Watch NASCAR if you need to see a green finish. It's not the Indy 505, or Indy 510. If you can't watch a race finish under yellow, then you're not a true motorsport fan. GWC, why not just run a 10 lap race and save everyone the time?

If it's determined that IndyCar will fold without doing a GWC, then do what they did at Fontana last year and red flag the race. I dislike that just about as much, but at least you keep the integrity of race distance in tact.

Anyone can watch a race finish under yellow but it doesn't mean they have to be happy about it, nor does it mean you're not a fan if you don't like it. It's silly to say 'just run 10 laps, it's the same thing' when the cars up front got there after an entire race - all you're doing is determining which lead car will win under race conditions not after some arbitrary crash. Regardless of what you might believe the 'true fan' wants, IMO most people actually want to see cars race to the checker not parade to it.

NASCAR did the right thing for the majority of its fans and I hope Indy does too, even if it means a red flag to prevent a caution ending.

Yup, They need to go back to solid rubber tires and make the entire track bricks again also. rolleyes.gif

Just because the Jersey Shore was a popular show doesn't mean it was a good show... If you like GWC, then that's great, watch NASCAR. That's the great thing about multiple series, you can find something you like, and I can find something I like. Why does every series need to be the same?

Has nothing to do with being the same and everything to do with having a good finish for the fans that pay good money to go watch races.

If you're paying money just for the finish, then clearly your sport is drag racing. You get way more finishes per dollar spent. Somehow, Indy has had races finish under yellow for the better part of a century, and yet, still completely out-draws the NASCAR race at the same track. I'm all for great finishes, sucked Marco lost it in the last few yards, loved the FIL finish on Friday, was in Turn 1, had no idea who one till they showed the replay on the big screen.

NASCAR doesn't realize those green white checkered finishes is what is killing the old school vibe of the sport, at least IRL puts racing first compared to NASCAR's current direction of crashes and shock tv.

Totally disagree, but to each their own. GWC gave the majority of NASCAR fans what they wanted and if it was as bad as you say they would've stopped using it long ago. It doesn't mean more crashes, it means better racing to the finish and if the drivers and commentators hated it they would object too, but they don't.

(cue the sneering down the nose response that NASCAR fans are all hicks, rednecks, or hillbillies and that it's just a form of car-based wrasslin').

Don't get me wrong i used to like to want GWC all the time but as much as i love them they happen way too often, also i will discuss my opinion on the "Cautions" in the NASCAR Forum

Mike Conway wins Race 1 of the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit, Race 2 will be broadcasted on ABC today at 3:30pm ET.

Didn't matter how many yellows they had Saturday, nobody was going to beat Helio. What a snoozer of a race after he took the lead, I think there were only 4 cars left on the lead lap.

And someone bashing me for complaining about the quantity of cars in the lead lap.. thanks...

I think I'm done watching, maybe 2 reasons:

1. Ugly cars, every time I see them the cars seem uglier, I don't know who or what design is that, but they look like fat frogs, I've seen sleeker looking go-karts

2. They won't be on Open TV anymore, I think (they said "NBC Sports Networks")
