This thread is for discussion of Continuum as it airs on the SyFy network. Please note that there is a separate thread for the show as it airs on Showcase in Canada. It has been airing in Canada before it airs in the US on SyFy, so you may wish to avoid the Canadian thread if you want to avoid spoilers for shows that haven't aired in the US yet.
Figured this was a good way to start this thread.... May I present one of the best reasons to watch this show: star Rachel Nichols (in Cap'n Kirk seduction mode)...

What are you talking about? Your thread is the original SHOWCASE thread for the Canadian airing. This one was started today for the US viewers who don't want spoilers, since they're behind by several episodes.
You started a thread for this program that airs in the United States? Please link us the thread and yours *should* govern.
Your thread, Continuum on SHOWCASE (Canada), is a separate topic and subject. People in the United States typically do not receive a Canadian channel (Showcase.) I have Dishnetwork with most of the channels and I do not have Showcase, thus this thread is for me.
I'm out of the loop on this series and on the Canadian channel Showcase so I really don't know what's going on
It's like having two different threads for The Office:
U.S. version would be "The Office on NBC"
U.K. version would be "The Office on BBC 2"
Not bitching at you or complaining. Just trying to give you an explanation
It was easier to start the new thread for the SyFy show since it airs after the Showcase showing. People were already discussing the shows that have aired in Canada in the other thread.
Plus, you spotted the show and started the other thread so far in advance of SyFy picking it up that people were discussing the first Canadian season before the first episode even made it to the US.
CPanther95: Thanks for separating and clarifying the threads. This will go a long way in fixing the mess created by the Syfy channel showing the episodes six or seven weeks after Showcase.
I'm betting that if there is a season three and judging from the advertisers jumping in it looks like there will be it both Canadian and Syfy showing will synchronous.
Lots of activity in the Canada thread, not much going on here, wonder why. I thought the last episode was one of ther most interesting yet. Who the good guys are is growing more complicated, and our heroine might be facing a whale of a moral conflict in the coming weeks. While Alex, who seemed to be the moral compass for the show, maybe isn't. Plus the possibility of a mole, while at the same time the terror group seems to be fragmenting...there's a heck of a lot going on here.

Am I the only Yank watching this show?

This first episode of the season seemed more like a set-up show to get the pieces in place. Not that much to discuss really, except Kellog now has his hooks into Alec who will presumably begin his Walter White-like decent to the Dark Side (not that bad, of course, but a decent still). Kiera is now under suspicion which, frankly, has been a long time coming IMO. Carlos is still in the dark, but for how much longer? Travis is still Da' Man & Sonya has a plan.
Tonight's ep should move things along and generate more commentary, I suspect.
Okay, it looks like Travis and Sonya are still at war, and now we have "freelancers" skulking about trying to capitalize on their knowledge of the past. Sort of like Kellogg, who seems to have given up the good fight for the good life. Or has he?
The overly dramatic scene at the end with Kiera losing her poor flash-addled sister had me checking my watch and rolling my eyes. Julian continues to be fought over by rival gang-bangers in prison. Loved the conversation between Carlos and that eccentric future dude. Did he have a conversation with Alec's mother at some point in the past (Alec's flashback); is that what that scene was intended to recall?
... the implication is that "he" (eccentric future dud) is Alec's bio-dad (as opposed to step-dad that got snuffed last season.) Remember, "eccentric future dude," got thrown 20 years further back than Kiera and Liber8.
... Of course, that could just be the drugs giving Alec a false/altered memory.
I have started to believe that the whole "kill Travis" order wasn't the whole story... by which I mean... when Kagame (sp?) gave the "order" to kill him... did he want him dead? OR just want to kick off all this mess that has happened since?
How would he have known Sonya's gun would run out of bullets just before she was able to deliver the fatal shot to Travis? I doubt even Kagame could plan things that exactly.

My thought is that he knew Travis would be hard to kill with his magic healing ability and whatnot... heck, maybe Travis is impossible to kill at this point... and the result is the kid in prison is going to be uber-protected by Travis' crew now.

I dunno; a head shot would probably have done him in. If Kagame planned Travis' survival from multiple gunshot wounds (none of them a head shot), then he really was prescient. What I can't quite figure out is what Sonya's angle is.
