We'll the Giants were finally put out of their misery by the Chargers, now let's see if the Jets can wake up and possibly make a run for a playoff spot.
It looks like more and more it will come down to the PHI/DAL season finale for the NFC East.

Knowing that, do you sit your skill position starters for the remainder of the (lame duck) games to prevent catastrophic injuries that seem to happen more frequently this time of year?

Absolutely not. You still play to win. There are other teams depending on the Giants to beat SEA and DET. You need to keep the integrity of the game intact. You can still finish 8-8 and not have a losing season.

Wow, I'd hate to be those teams depending on the G's to beat SEA and DET eek.gif

Of course you're right- for the integrity of the game the best players should be on the field at all times.... well maybe the Giants 2nd string should play then tongue.gif

It would be advantageous from a fan and owner perspective to get better draft picks but Coughlin is still coaching for his job and many players are playing for roster spots or contract money.

Cowboys just need to stay within a game of the Eagles for that last game to mean something.

On the other hand, if Dallas is a game ahead (looks unlikely now with Philly beating Arizona and Detriot), the Cowboys will have locked the NFC East prior to the finale.

Feb is typically the month where we get the biggest snowstorms of the season in the tri-state area. Last year we got 3+ ft of snow on Feb 9th-10th.
Imagine a super-snowstorm like the Philly one occurring during the SuperBowl? biggrin.gif:D

I'm hoping for one, just to see how the halftime entertainment deals with it.

last night's monday night football game on espn was one of the best looking so far. Very crisp images and decent surround sound. Glad that the cowboys got clawed by the bears last night. Too bad the giants season is done until next year.

College football players are such wussies. They end their season before the real weather (snow) kicks in. Real men play in the snow! biggrin.gif

Gotta admit, it makes a game really interesting when you can actually loose sight of a player

Man, as Charger fan, that was a win I wasn't expecting over the Broncos in Denver, but pretty stoked they gave them their first home game loss of the season.

And the FOUL!

Is that a height slam at Danny Woodhead in last night's win over Denver?
No last 2 minute comeback by Manning.

To be fair, Brady's comeback last week required special teams and defense to do their jobs. No kick recovery, no comeback.

SEA/NYG looks subpar on WNYW NY OTA. The surrounds are good though.

Edit: 23-0 now. Giants not even showing up today, what a joke. Too bad they can't switch to another game.

Not sure if this hit the HOTP thread or not, but I saw this on another site:

http://www.fcc.gov/document/nprm-sports-blackout-rules
FCC Proposes to Eliminate the Commission’s Sports Blackout Rules

The FCC is considering lifting the local blackouts of NFL games that don't sell out tickets.
Quote:
1 The sports blackout rules were originally adopted nearly 40 years ago when game ticket sales were the main source of revenue for sports leagues.

2 These rules were intended to address concerns that MVPDs’ importation of a distant signal carrying a blacked-out sports event could result in lost revenue from ticket sales, which might cause sports leagues to expand the reach of blackouts by refusing to sell their rights to sports events to all distant stations.

3 The rationale underpinning the rules was to ensure to the greatest extent possible the continued availability of sports telecasts to the public.

4 Changes in the sports industry in the last four decades have called into question whether the sports blackout rules remain necessary to ensure the overall availability of sports programming to the general public. In this proceeding, we will determine whether the sports blackout rules have become outdated due to marketplace changes since their adoption, and whether modification or elimination of those rules is appropriate.

5 We recognize that elimination of our sports blackout rules alone might not end sports blackouts, but it would leave sports carriage issues to private solutions negotiated by the interested parties in light of current market conditions and eliminate unnecessary regulation.

It is interesting but is not likely to force the NFL to change their blackout rules. The NFL could just work with the networks they have tv deals in place to set the same rules again.
