Are they cops interviewing the suspected cops? If so I'm in.

Selleck still has his Blue Bloods gig so it appears right now that he is not a candidate for next season's True Detective. More's the pity, though, because Selleck has been wonderful playing more detectives than I can recall, although his performances as Robert B. Parker's Jesse Stone stand out in my mind.

I can't recall ever seeing him do a real dark role. It would be interesting to see it.

I think the fact that Selleck is perceived as a "TV actor", right or wrong, would exclude him from consideration for next year's 'True Detective'. After landing these two guys, you figure the cast possibilities for next season are going to be nothing less than A-list movie stars. Begin compiling your list from that rarefied air.

Yep, when one of the current stars of the show is the incumbent Best Actor Oscar winner and the other is also one of the best actors in Hollywood, the bar is pretty high. Still, I really, really like Selleck's work so would love to see him cast in something as meaty as a season of True Detective.

I agree. No doubt he has all the chops necessary, and he'd be terrific. But his career path was set with 'Magnum PI', like it or not. Funny how those things work out.

I don't know if I'd call Woody Harrelson one of the 'best actors in Hollywood' but his quality of work has definitely gone up over the years...funny how a really good role makes any actor look good

I like that sentence with Bill Murray in it.

I like Bill Murray the best as Herman Blume.

A good actor for next season would be Iain Glen, the guy that plays Jack Taylor (a good show and on netflix) though most would recognize him from Game of Thrones.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence

Not bad.wink.gif

Precisely.
Anything else would be a disappointment to the show's fans.

Whom they're going to cast as the leads is irrelevant ...

Who are they going to get as replacements for the Lisa and Beth roles, you know to fulfill the HBO nudity quota?biggrin.gif

My first encounter with Tom Selleck was as the "perfect" detective, Lance White, opposite the very imperfect detective, Jim Rockford, in The Rockford Files. In that role he was perfectly perfect. The cut-of-his-jaw is just too pretty for this show, I think, eventhough he has become a bit craggy now.

I don't know, but the bar that they set was pretty high! Especially Daddario!

Panny TC-P65VT60 (calibrated by Chad B), Denon AVR-4311, Comcast X1 DVR, Apple TV 3, Sony BDP-S5100,  Ascend Acoustics Sierra Towers (mains), Horizon (CC) and HTM-200's (Surr), Dual PSA XV15 Subwoofers!!

Rockford would be awesome in a meaty role like this. As a kid I hated that show but as I grew up I got to really respect it and Simon and Simon. Great stuff.

If we get the chopper and the robot hell yeah.

We recently disconnected Directv and have been watching the MeTV channel off and on and they have the Cannon series running. It was my first exposure to that series.

Here's a theory that seems to be right on the money, in fact I'm convinced that this one has it right, we'll find out tomorrow night.

I had some trepidation about reading it myself, but as darth noted, it's all been at least touched upon in this thread.

And I've never been burned by anything I've read at Pajiba.

As you know, spoilerphobia makes me cranky but in this instance, I'm not going to look at the site either. As you said, I want to be SURPRISED!!!!!!!!! It's a rare TV show that can make me think like that but True Detective has managed it.

I apologize if you thought I was criticizing you for posting it, because I really wasn't.wink.gif

My point was with so many sharp guys around here tearing the series apart chasing clues, I have learned a little more than I wish I had.
