I remember playing "Pole Position" ages ago and Suzuka (and Fuji) was in it. Some of the in car cams bring back memories. I pumped so many quarters in those things it was ridiculous.

A sports bar used to have a game called Hang On,there were 4 bikes you sat on and had to lean them over to turn and Suzuka was one of the tracks. My friends and I spent hours on that
damn thing.To much fun.

Hah I remember those. We used to get yelled at for slamming them down too hard. "Hey man, I'm trying to slice an apex here. High score is on the line, dudebro".

They didn't care.

Not so much hit the brake, the trick was to get close enough to pull the key out of the ignition.

Cocaine, Wild Turkey and stupid memes? I could rile up a certain Spaniard but that would be mean.

We could always go over to Lopez Motors and get stupid in some supercar test drives.

No coke, scratch Wild Turkey ,replace with Johnny Blue. Stir up the Spaniard, and let's have some fun. ๐Ÿ˜… Oh, and I'm done with Lopez, he left me hanging with product in the garage,no show. Had to liquidate myself.

It's not up to Bernie.

From another article:
The new regulation has already been approved by the World Motor Sport Council, so it isn't clear how Ecclestone plans to have it scrapped as such a change would require a unanimous vote.

Never did that, however, I was known to sneak up on the inside and hit the kill switch when they weren't paying attention. I got pretty good at it too. Good times!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Fernando! I guess the weather and safety car gods gave him an early present this past weekend. Luckily, he has the skill to take advantage of those situations when they arise. Absolutely stellar drive on tires that were WAY done. While it was a great moral booster, it was obviously a byproduct of all the chaos on track. I'm just glad Alonso made the most of it.

I have to give Kimi his props. Hell of a drive after that ridiculous blunder the team had with him in qualy. I hope he keeps it up after the break.

Huge congrats to DR for another stellar drive. The kid is on fire!

I really thought Seb was going to get back on track this weekend after qualy, but I guess not. That spin was a rookie mistake. Although he lucked out and didn't hit the wall hard enough to break the suspension, he still flat spotted the tires.

Another impressive drive from Lewis! Pit lane to 3rd. WOW. It was good to see him get some redemption after yet another failure. Did he inherit Webber's luck or what? I was completely against the double points crap, but I hope Lewis can use those to make up for all of his crap luck .

WHY in the hell is everyone making such a big deal about Lewis supposedly not letting Nico by? Was he supposed to pull over to the shoulder and wait for Nico to go by? Hell NO! Nico couldn't get close enough to pass, so why should Lewis slow down? He shouldn't! Lewis even said if he got close enough he would let him by, but Nico couldn't do it until later when he had the new tires and Lewis' were spent. Then it wasn't strategy, it was for position, so tough luck!

As mentioned by other posters, what in the hell were they doing keeping the cameras on the second group of cars instead of the three fighting for the podium? I thought after the commentators made mention of it (multiple times), that they would switch, but they took their sweet time doing it. Luckily they cut back before anything happened.

Unfortunately, it takes weather and some safety cars to make the races exciting this season. It was one hell of a race though. The safety cars really made the race for a few and ruined it for a few others.

This is going to be a LONG break.

So, what other topics shall we cover in the mean time?

I would like to really understand exactly what power Bernie, the FIA (Jean Todt), and the WMSC actually wield. I would also like to see the results of the votes taken by the WMSC that have brought us double points, success ballast (guess that one has not yet been voted on), and standing restarts. I keep hearing that "all the teams approved the change by unanimous vote"? Really, color me skeptical, but I don't believe it for a minute.

And as for race weekends, what power does Charlie Whiting actually have? As I commented on earlier, he simply offered the opinion that FRIC was illegal, and instantly every team removed it. I just found that very peculiar that no single team challenged it.

If you figure it out, let the rest of us know! I'm just as confused as you, because supposedly all of this crap had to be voted in, then you see nothing but the teams complaining about the rules.

I think the thing with FRIC was that some of the smaller teams made it very clear that they would protest the results and challenge them if anyone continued to use it. The bigger teams (except for Merc ) couldn't afford to be disqualified and lose the points from that race, so they voluntarily removed it to prevent it from happening. But then again, that is what the media "told" us, so who knows how much of it is true.

Kimi: my opinion of him is quite a bit higher after that.

Seb: luckiest driver on the grid, by far. I couldn't believe me eyes when he didn't go into the wall.

Mercedes team orders "gate":

I can understand a team not wanting their driver to not put on any defensive moves... but wanting him to actually lift and slow down to let the other guy by?! WTF no way. Merc screwed up big time by doing that. They probably stirred up even more animosity between their drives.

Cameras: I didn't have a big problem with it. They covered the 1-2-3 cars once they tightened up.

A long break indeed. That was one helluva race. Buxton made a good point on his blog: everyone that's critical of this year is probably looking at the past through rose-tinted glasses. In the first Hungarian GP only one car was even within a lap of the winner, for example.

Ferrari comments on 2015 development plans.

http://en.espnf1.com/ferrari/motorsp...ry/170233.html

Interesting comment at the end regarding the drivers, in particular Fred.

From the article:

"Kimi is quite new to our team, and Fernando, I guess, has had some years of being with Ferrari and has not yet attained the goal that he wanted when he joined us. I guess he has sat through a few of these meetings already, I hope the presentations that I put his way, as well as a few of my colleagues, have been convincing but I guess you need to speak to him to get his view on that."

Alonso has been hearing the "we know how to fix it and give you a winning car" speech for years now and it has never come true since he has been there. I'm not surprised one bit if he is like "I'll believe it when I see it". I know I would be.

Another gem from Lauda:

http://en.espnf1.com/f1/motorsport/story/170251.html

I have to take issue with this bit though. I just hope he was being quoted out of context:

"We should think, together with Bernie because he is the master, what we can improve," he said. "I have to say the change that we had with Charlie [Whiting, race director] and the stewards not get involved as much as before was a great move. [At Hockenheim] even the Sauber in the middle of the road it was exciting. If there was a safety car then everybody would get bored."

Yes, very excitingโ€ฆ..particularly for the track workers that has to sprint across the track to reach the car. I suspect that Nikki will be clarifying his comment in a day or two.
