I don't think you guys are really getting it. The reason F1 is going to places like CutHer and the like is their govs are paying Bern a ton of money. It doesn't matter how many people come to the actual race as those govs want the prestige that comes with hosting a F1 race even if they lose money on the actual event. Indy would still have a F1 race if Tony would have been willing to pay more money and maybe go in the hole just for the pleasure of hosting a race.
One should realize that I don't blame Bernie for going for the money. I think a lot of us would do the same in his position. My problem is I don't want to hear him crying when these countries decide it isn't worth it and dump him like former engine manufacturers.
That's like people that buy houses near an airport then bitch about the noise. You knew the track was there when you bought. I think Wayne Rainey has a house overlooking the track, don't think he complained about some "noise"

He's lived there for so long. Next time I see him at a MotoGP race I'll ask him, he was always cool to talk to at Laguna Seca since he lives so close. Wayne talking to Gil Campbell in this photo.
For a second US Grand Prix, someone should build a track in south Florida.
In the past, racing down here, particularly when it was downtown Miami, brought an incredible international crowd from south America and all over, and was really a monster event. At first Miami doesnt sound like a good location, but there is an international flair to the Miami area that would really be great for F1.
Plus the drivers and teams could party on South Beach!!!
When I was at Seca last summer for a Jaguar Experience I was taken around the track in the new F-type and each time we got to the ascent up the hill to the back of the track my driver had to let off the throttle for "SPL limits". I remember being like, "Wtf? but this is still awesome!". General traffic on the the road will be that loud and continuous. A race happens only so often and for a short couple hours. Ugh. Pretty lame. Why even have a race track? Any a-hole with a modded exhaust can make much more noise and do it at odd hours.
Anyway... F1 on Seca would be friggin awesome.
The run up the hill. The Sound Shack is off to the right out of the frame. A blight on an otherwise wonderful track.
I read another article about this today and apparently Merc was trying to recruit him as well, so RB used their TR team to offer him a seat so Merc couldn't compete with their "offer". Obviously Merc wouldn't can Lewis or Nico for the kid, so they lost out.
What a life.....driving in Formula 1 at 17! The kid can't even get a license in his home country till he's 18! Apparently there is no age limit on when you can get a Super License to drive in F1.
Time for what ifs.....if the kid is half as good as they say he is, he should kill it. I wonder if RB would can Vettel to move the kid up to RB if he does? I highly doubt it, but that would be hilarious!
