Third place at Monza and two other podiums as well.  Sadly, I don't remember that at all, I just remember him crashing out race after race...  LOL

Let her earn her stripes in GP2 like everyone else first and let's see what happens from there.
I understand your point of view and agree to some extent.
But as far as the Michael Andretti thing goes Id like to set the record straight. There are a lot of haters that always like to bring that up. Im not saying youre one but here the facts. The McLaren in 1993 was a piece of crap. Even Senna didnt do well in it so imagine coming from IndyCar to F1 and driving a crap car that was one of them most high tech in F1 history. They had the auto suspension and computerized everything. This was right before they banned all that stuff. Nobody would do well in that case. Add to that he didnt get as much testing as everyone else because he was still commuting back and forth from the US. Then the first 3 races he was crashed out because of people running into him. But Andretti finished 3rd at Monza and scored points in 2 other races.
The reason he didnt finish the season is because McLaren had a hard on for Mika Hakkinen and wanted him in the seat.
All in all a very ugly season but it kills me that people like to act like Andretti was "just" an IndyCar driver that was out of his league and the "incompetent American". Thats BS.

No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die!

Much of his problem may have been that he did not stay with the team, during the season, but returned to the U.S. after each race.eek.gif

There were a LOT of retirements by all the drivers that year. The rules and regulations were going through a lot of changes and therefore so were the cars.
Michael Andretti finished 11th in the points and didnt even race the last 3 races. When he did finish his places were 5th, 8th, 14th, 6th, 8th and 3rd.

Btw Mika Hakkinen who took over the car from Andretti for the last 3 races had 2 retirements and a 3rd place finish.

I think we're getting side-tracked here.  I was merely making a point as to how different F1 cars are when compared against Indy Cars and that it wouldn't be easy for her to make a mark in F1.  Andretti was Indy champ and went bust in an admittedly less than stellar car.  She's mediocre in Indy and going into a Sauber car which has also been less than stellar in the F1 ranks and is likely to continue on the same path in 2014.

Be they Danica or Simona or whoever, there doesn't appear to be a female driver in any big series right now who is capable of being a champion.

Today my stepdaughter asked me if I knew who Andy Pilgrim was. Of course I do. He was at her High School the other day doing a lecture on safe driving. Pretty cool,no autograph though.

No, we're taking the year off to see how the NASCAR-ization plays out. If NASCAR takes to manipulating the racing instead of letting it unfold on its own, we're going to find something else to do. They pulled one of their phantom cautions at the Daytona 24, so it's not looking good so far.

We have a hotel booked for Petit Le Mans, but I won't spend $2K on a race trip if the racing is manipulated by NASCAR for "the show."

I was kinda dissapointed the way the 24 was run. To much Grand Am style officiating. A few LOOONG yellows and as you said bogus yellows. Hopefully at Sebring we'll see how they match the DP's and the P2 cars. Daytona is not a good please to compair the two.
