Some time ago I grew tired of Dick Wolf shows. I did watch the pilot of Chicago Fire and passed on it. However last year I did watch the episode that acted as an introduction to Chicago PD. I liked that episode a lot, and now even more so after watching episode 1 last night. This is one tight show with a higher sense of realism than most shows of its' type.

Chicago Fire is very well done and on my "must see" list. I wasn't as thrilled with Chicago PD as it was just ok for me. I may or may not record it, especially since it's on against Nashville.

I like them both, with PD getting into the low end of a big city, and it's not New York, LOL.

I like them both too. I especially enjoy the outstanding production quality of both shows, in my market(San Francisco - KNTV(NBC)) the image and sound quality is reference level as far as current HD TV quality goes.

Consider me a fan, also (both PD and Fire). I feel it is well written, acted, edited. Great camera work. And, the SFX folks do a great job creating fires, car wrecks, etc. What really ices the cake, for me, is that this really is recorded in Chicago. I've just retired (and moved) after living/working in Chicago for 35 years. I recognize quite a few of the locations they show. The fire house actually exists on South Blue Island Avenue. It is is the SW part of the city. I believe it is where Blue Island and Maxwell Street intersect (look it up on Google Earth-you can see the fire house). Years ago, I had driven past there, not dreaming it would be used for a location for a tv show in the future.

Strange. The last ep ends with Voight being arrested and then in the preview he's back in business.

Yeah, there's a number of reasons why that would happen(being released), and he is one the main stars so it not like he's leaving the show, but to show it in previews is just silly as it removes all tension and suspense for the next episode, something that previews are supposed to encourage.

Thats technically not a spoiler but it is douchey posting about previews

His arrest is likely just a ruse so they can arrest his CI

Yeah, if I get exposed to a 10-15 second preview, I lay awake nights because I'm so upset that it will absolutely ruin the next show and possibly the entire series for me. rolleyes.gif

I still like and watch the show, I like the scenes where he steps outside the law, such as when he urged Dawson to cut his son's kidnapper's eye out,, when he had the drug dealer that disrespected him earlier brought to him and then beaten, and when he took the rapist assistant to the cage downstairs and started slicing his ears.biggrin.gif Also they strongly imply Voight has killed bad guys.

Nope, you are not. I watch both series.

What does bother me about Chicago Fire is that for a station that far from downtown, it gets calls to downtown, or very near downtown.

"What do you say Beckett. Wanna have a baby?" - Castle to Det. Beckett
"How Long have I been gone?" Alexis after arriving home and seeing Castle and Beckett w/ the baby - Castle - 11/25/13

I watch Chicago Fire and like Chicago PD when Nashville has a rerun. I record too many shows the way it is, and just don't have time to watch everything.

I watch all three. I am behind on my viewing as well, but not those three shows.

As per my previous posting (#10 above), I REALLY like this show and it's counterpart, Chicago Fire. Either on standalone shows, or where the two have overlapping stories, I think they're great! I realize that these are tv shows, and not real life. So, perhaps I shouldn't nit-pick. But, one thing on this weeks show rather stood out to me. When Officer Burgess (on the spur of the moment) volunteered to be a decoy street walker, she was told to change into clothing that would be appropriate for that scenario. And, to do it fast--they had to leave immediately. The next scene shows her in front of her locker kitted out in thigh-high black mesh stockings, a tight mini-skirt, spike heels and a trashy sweater-top. What caught my attention was, why did she have this type of "trashy" clothing in her locker? Is that the way she dresses when coming into work? This is her first time going under-cover (she's a "beat" cop). So, she would not have had need of these garments before. It just seemed too convenient that she would just happen to have this clothing stashed in her locker when she never needed it before nor could have anticipated that she would need it at this exact time. Perhaps I analyze too deeply-as I said, I really like these shows. It's just that her having this needed clothing in her locker seemed way too convenient. Otherwise, keep these two shows coming. I look forward to them every week.

Just because she was standing in front of her locker doesn't mean that the clothing was in it. Police departments have a wardrobe collection just like the drama department at your local high school. She simply picked up the clothing there and put it on in the dressing area, where the lockers are.... wink.gif

Marina Squerciati (Burgess) has such an innocent look, when she had to do the "dead hooker eyes" she looked almost exactly the same. biggrin.gif

I did not know police departments kept "wardrobes" for officers use. Good info-thanks for pointing it out. And, as I said earlier, keep these two shows coming. I totally enjoy them!

Season opener last night. Very good start to the new season IMO, and the acting is also very good, especially the actor... Jason Beghe, who plays a tough Sgt. Voight. The tagline: "Don't **** with my city" fits him well.

It just blows my mind that no one watches this show. Historically, Wednesday's TV fare was dead to me. Not any more. Next ep is the 2nd season's finale.

I also watch and have posted about it before in this thread. I think this show, and it's counterpart (Chicago Fire), are VERY good shows. Hope they keep up the standards they have set and remain on the air for many more seasons. Keep them coming!!
