PQ seems really soft to me on all networks, Cable and OTA, like the pool feed is in 720p or worse. Not as sharp as I seem to remember previous SOTU's

Watching on 50" 1080p display. Checked CBS, NBC, CNN, PBS.

Edit: I saw a Fox logo on one of the cameras on the floor as Obama was exiting, so I assume Fox was doing the feed. That explains the poor PQ.

Fox, by coincidence, produced the pool feed for the second year in a row. I agree that the video on the 1080i broadcasters did not look particularly sharp, either this year or last.

By the way, ever wonder what the switched (fully produced) pool feed looks like before the speech starts or after the speech but before the opposition's response?

NBC frequently had a popup covering the right third of the screen (and Boehner - conspiracy!), telling us what we just heard the President say.

I am about 30 minutes into the President's speech and so far OPB (the Oregon PBS affiliate) has a clean screen, except for their semi-transparent logo in the lower right corner.

Update: the whole speech was uncluttered visually, and the Republican Rebuttal was likewise clean, other than a brief subtitle identifying the speaker.

My very humble setup:
Man Cave:Vizio E500i-A1 "Smart TV" (50-in 1080p 120Hz LED/LCD, has Netflix app.), Blu-ray players (Sony BDP-S3100, old LG BD390), Roku (the original model: N1000), PC (Windows 7), Comcast Internet (25Mbps/5Mbps).
Bedroom:LG 32LV3400-UA TV (32-in 768p 60Hz LED/LCD), HD DVR (Motorola RNG200N), Xfinity Comcast cable (Digital Starter Package), DVD/VHS player.

I cut the cable so don't have "TV" per se but I noticed that YouTube would be streaming it live so decided to use Chromecast to watch it on the big screen. I got a message that Chromecast can't handle live streams yet. So I "cast" the tab on Chrome with YouTube. Worked sorta okay except for one blue screen crash probably because I was running wifi only.
